WR/RB Thread

There have been talks of them possibly cutting him. So if I were San Francisco I would trade and get whatever I could out of him instead of cut him even if it was a depth player.

On the flip side if there is a good chance of him being cut there is no reason the Ravens should trade for him unless they do not believe a player they will trade has any chance of making the 53 man roster.
I've followed the situation, and while anything could happen, the speculation about a potential release at the end of July were basically halted once John Lynch showered Hyde with praise to the media and Kyle Shanahan talked him up in the same week. The speculation was partially fueled by the presence of Joe Williams, whom Shanahan apparently banged the table for during draft night. The reports that followed the trade/release talks have been that Hyde's been set as the starter, and that he's pancaked would-be blockers in TC. Williams, meanwhile, was just playing behind three different RBs even with Tim Hightower shelved. They were utilizing UDFA Matt Breida as their No.2 in their dress rehearsal. Now that doesn't entirely mean that the trade talks are off the table, but this could have likely been a motivational ploy. As it stands, it would be a surprise to see him outright not make the final 53.

I know but they're pretty thin otherwise aren't they? Their run defense was terrible so they could look for a Carl Davis to beef up the middle.
Their run defense will likely be in question this year again, and they could use another DT given that Arik Armstead has split time with Elvis Dumervil at LEO, likely shifting inside on passing downs, so it's possible. But they likely have bigger issues to address. I personally feel that the reports regarding Hyde have mostly done a 180 in August, and they've seemingly committed to Hyde as their starter, so it's difficult to foresee them trading him at this very time for depth within a group that at least has upside moving forward. We could be overvaluing how far solid preseasons have shot up the values of our players on the trade market in a general sense It's certainly not outside of the realm of possibilities to see him release or traded, but it seems that the chances have been dwindling since the beginning of this month.

I'm always skeptical of GM's and coaches talking a player up, especially after it happens in the same week. This could be an attempt to raise his value in an attempt to trade him. That being said, I agree with you and do not feel like he will be traded or cut, especially at this juncture. He's just too talented of a back, when healthy.

Been off the forums for the summer, getting back into it so excuse me if this has already been discussed, but what's the extent of Perriman's injury? When's the last time he practiced? I saw him running in shorts the other day but his injury is beginning to concern me. I really want him on the field.

He has a grade two hamstring which is 4 to 6 weeks. He's been out 3 or 4 weeks now.

Btw, welcome back

Would you guys trade for Jarvis Landry? Mike Wallace is only getting older which means his speed should decrease soon, and Perriman is still a bit unproven, but if he pans out, a trio of him, Maclin and Landry could be amazing. Just thinking out loud.

Miami rightfully has no desire to trade him.

I don't think that Landry will ever be available for trade. But if for some reason he was he would be an amazing weapon out of the slot. But unfortunately that would be all he can do as he struggles more on the outside. He will likely be paid like a top 5 wide receiver soon and the Ravens I don't think would pay that tag.

I am a Landry fan but I would have to say no. First, he is going to get PAID after this season and that isn't our style. Second, as good as he is, he really doesn't score enough TD's. That may seem nitpicky, but I feel like that's important. Last, I heard on the radio a week or so ago that he was involved in a domestic battery. Again, I like Landry and think he's a great talent, but how much we'd have to give up and ultimately then pay next year and the shitstorm that would follow if he did something to his baby-mama, no thanks.

I would rather keep him as a 4th option at RB than any of the WR's after the top 5. If it comes to needing a 6th WR, you could put him in the slot.

I dont know if he can ever be an every down back but he runs with urgency, creates his own yards and is a dual threat. The only other back we have who can do all that is Dixon and hes about as durable as a wet paper bag.

Don't forget he plays with ragarm. A stronger armed qb that can sling it and he probably averages 14yards per and 10tds

With Westbrook looking so good( no surprise, he was best in draft my opinion) . Marqise Lee is in trading block. Aa well as Hurns. But Marqise is more dynamic and can win on every level. About time ravens get a WR whose best receiving is in front of him and not behind him. I know offensive line is the bigger problem. But if management is building the offense for the long haul it is all about who is available. Marqise could be the NO.1 WR for years to come if he clicks and performs.

Dallas probably not looking to trade Byron Bell but a good offer could persuade them. He held up ok at Left Tackle but is more built to play RT and guard. If he can play well at LT. Then Howard Eluemunor and Hurst can compete for LG position to for a pretty solid line.
