Post FA Mock Draft

RaineV1

Ravens Ring of Honor
Now that FA is winding down a bit, I'll do another one of these. I'm gonna try to pick out guys that aren't brought up as much for us, but still feel like a good fit for our team.

Round 1: Dre'Mont Jones, DL, Ohio State

Jones is scary good as a one gap DT. Violent hands, incredible burst, and can get skinny to get between a pair of offensive linemen. At his best he can be a poor man's Aaron Donald. His technique isn't super consistent but some decent coaching can iron that out. Besides WR, pass rush is our biggest weakness, and he'll get more pressure than anyone else that could be on the board here.

Round 3: John Cominsky, DL/Edge, Charleston

Now we're getting off the beaten path. Cominsky is an unbelievable athlete for his size. At 6'5", 285 he posted a 4.69 40 (3rd for his position group) and a 7.03 three cone drill (again, 3rd for his position). What's really impressive was that despite the jump in competition he more than held his own at the senior bowl, pushing around some of the better division 1 offensive linemen. He has the range and athletic ability to be a big edge, playing a similar role that Suggs did, and would be an improvement over ZDS. With some good coaching to improve his technique (he does come from division 2 afterall), he can be a real attack dog for our front 7. The combo of him and Jones would let us wreak havoc on offensive lines.

Round 3: Connor McGovern, OG, Penn State

Gonna take this one from Lost. Good fit for our scheme and able to play both center and guard. The best center between him and Bozeman can take that position while the other is the guard. Ingram will get a solid line to run behind.

Round 4: Travis Fulgham, WR, Old Diminion

A small school guy but he plays big. Best way to describe him is that he plays like a big receiving TE, but in the body of a WR. He's very strong, blocks well, and is fearless when going after passes. And he has some of the most reliable and strongest hands in this draft. He can be the Mr. Reliable we need at WR.

Round 4: Jazz Fergason, WR, Northwestern State

Another small school but time time play making WR in the 4th. Ferguson shows incredible speed on the field, good ball tracking, and reliable hands. Perfect guy to go deep to on play action.

Round 5: Myles Gaskin, RB, Washington

Well, this one isn't a new pick for me. Gaskin can be a fantastic change of pace RB, and shows good skill as a receiver out of the backfield.

Round 6: Josiah Tauaefa, LB, UTSA

Come on, just look at him. You know you want a guy like that in the middle of our defense. He's a good blitzer, and can be pretty good on special teams. He's inexperienced as a LB. It's a new position for him after being a DE in the past. The inexperience shows at times, but the Ravens know how to coach up a LB.

Where does Jones play for us? Maybe I need to watch more of him but from what I saw, he does not hold up AT ALL against the run. Minnesota man handled him. Don't like it based on the games Ive seen.

So you like small school prospects who we’ve never heard of huh?
I wanted to make it different than the other mocks and go with less obvious guys.

that would be my question too - especially if he's predominantly a great 1-gapper - would he fit as a 3-4 end in our scheme?
If you can get someone that's great at getting pressure, then you find a spot for him. Besides, he'd be playing next to Pierce or Brandon Williams, with Judon on the other side and ILBs that are good against the run behind him. Use him on early downs and obvious passing situations and trade him out for someone like Wormley when it's short yardage. He'd have no place in a Pees defense, that's for sure, but since Wink actually rotates and plays more aggressively he'll have an important niche.

I don't see him as dominant. Not particularly a fit and no way I see him as the best available in the first round.
