Random mock I spent too much time on

As Ravens fans I feel we're in an unfamiliar situation this offseason. The new direction of the Ravens and the possibilities of the draft this year are endless and the thought of things actually being different got me wondering if I had the opportunity to be in Decosta's shoes what would be MY next move...

......Cue the imaginary dream bubble and sound effects.......

"The Baltimore Ravens are now on the clock with the 22nd pick"

Off the board in no particular order: Kyler Murray, Nick Bosa, Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen, Rashan Gary, Ed Oliver, Jawaan Taylor, Andre Dillard, Montez Sweat, Dwayne Haskins, Christian Wilkins, DK Metcalf, Jonah Williams, Cody Ford, Daniel Jones, TJ Hockenson, Chris Lindstrom, Clelin Ferrell, Devin White, Greedy Williams, Bryon Murphy

"Top remaining prospects" in no particular order: Jeffrey Simmons (likely off our board), Brian Burns, Polite, Bradbury, Hollywood, Josh Jacobs, Devin Bush, Dexter Lawerence, Adderly, Erik Mccoy, Tillery, Deandre Baker, N'keal Harry

In this situation, my BPA is probably Burns or Bradbury, but I don't like their "value" I think I can get guys that project similarly to the next level later. Especially in this draft, where all the top tier guys are already gone outside of maybe Bradbury (but he's not that much better than Erik Mccoy imo and who will most likely be higher on some boards due to scheme fit). So, I'm projecting a trade since this is my dream remember lol.

The Colts GM Ballard calls with the offer to flip from #22 to #26. The official offer?
Ravens send: R1P22 + R3P102 while the Colts send: R1P26 + R389.
Fairly decent offer that favors the Colts according to draft value charts and if offered in real life I think it'd be accepted. The reason the colts want to trade up? Their guy: Brian Burns. They've met with him numerous times. I believe taken him out to dinner twice. Well, I use this information to my advantage and lead them to believe Burns will be selected with the 22nd pick whether he ends up in Indianapolis or Baltimore is currently up in the air. My counter offer is to Ballard?
Ravens send: R1P22 (Brian Burns) + R3P102 while the Colts send: R2P34 + R2P59
A trade that may seem unreal to some, maybe all? Not sure what the reaction will be but its fair on the draft value charts and I believe might even favor the Colts as they get a second 1st round pick without mortgaging the future. Which is what entices Ballard, He accepts. Selects Burns, celebrates, tells his assistant to hold the press conference as he gets ready to make another pick within the hour.

Now for the sake of ending this wall of words and dream scenario, I didn't trade anymore but if this happened in real life there's no doubt Decosta (and myself in my dream GM chair) would have traded down again to the late 30 mid 40 range and continue to maneuver. So now... finally... (much life real life) some Ravens picks are in.

With the 34th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
ERIK MCCOY, IOL, TEXAS A&M
Mccoy is a great fit in our system, experienced, still has room to grow but would be an instant starter. Should be able to slide into whichever spot Bozeman doesn't and finish our OL.
Stanley, Mccoy, Bozeman, Yanda, Brown

With the 59th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
DEEBO SAMUEL,WR, SOUTH CAROLINA
Best playmaker on the board and would be the best playmaker on offense outside of LJ. Hands, good routes, beats press, speed, vision, creativity. can play outside. only knocks are injury history and height? still 6 foot!

With the 85th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
JJ ARCEGA-WHITESIDE, WR, STANFORD
Shows clearly prioritizing WR's and different traits than we've previous selected. Both guys are playmakers beat 1v1 coverage consistently, good hands, football players(not athletes), willing to block, good football IQ but still fit Harbaughs vision.. good character, good storys, team players, leaders, rough and tough.
sidenote: Deebo and JJAW are my 1A1B for us! I think they would help Lamar reach his potential more than others. Accept maybe Butler!

With the 113th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
JUSTIN HOLLINS, EDGE, OREGON
Love this kids potential, Could be dangerous with our secondary, High football IQ, can play the run, can rush the passer and has experience in coverage. Does need refinement but has length, speed, frame you cannot teach. probably goes higher than this.

With the 123rd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
ANTHONY NELSON, DL, IOWA
Mcphee\Z replacement? inside/outside pass rush potential

With the 160th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
TRAYVEON WILLIAMS, RB, TEXAS A&M
small shifty back with speed Harbs spoke of. love his play. vision and feet are great. comes with Erik Mccoy

With the 191st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
DAKOTA ALLEN, LB, TTU
need depth lb. I believe Jefferson plays alot of nickel

With the 193rd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Baltimore Ravens select....
GREG GAINES, DL, WASHINGTON
late round DL per usual

I love the first 2 picks and travyon williams. Samuel and travyon are 2 out of the 6 of the players that i actually like in this draft. That being said, we nevee draft the guys that i want lol

Yeah, my favorite prospects never make it to Baltimore either. Agreed on Samuel and Trayveon being on my wish list tho. JJAW is on there as well. I think he ends up being really good. Who are the other 4 players you really want out of this draft?

Juan thornhill, jakobi meyers, hunter refernow and darnell savage.. Hunter probably wouldnt fit our team but He reminds me of edelman. Meyers, transistioned to wr from qb, looks really good for someone who has only been playing wr for 3yrs.

Haven't heard of Thornhill. I'll check him out. I do like Meyers as a mid round option. The others are solid prospects as well. I think Savage goes round 2.

I would’ve just taken burns lol

And then I have to ask, is elgton Jenkins and kelvin harmon available? Because I’d like this draft a lot more if those names were swapped, I’m lukewarm on McCoy but admittedly after not watching much of him at all, I really like Deebo too but I just like harmon more and we don’t have to worry about the nagging soft tissue injuries popping up again. Deebo being so great against zone is a big upside for this offense, but I think Deebo in the nfl will be better out of the slot, and early on will need scheming and moving, and I’d rather get the guy who can line up on the boundary every snap and kick the corners ass and play away from the 8 man boxes.

My head starts to spin a little when thinking about trades but there are some players I like very much. mcCoy feels like a player The ravens would draft over Jenkins. Can't put my finger on exactly why but ...
Hollins I like a good little bit and have considered the possibility of double dipping the tandem of Hollins and D'andre Walker in 3/4.
Trayveon Williams is RB #2 for me....pretty under discussed.

Yeah. Just selecting Burns would also be a great direction for the team. That would create a potentially nasty pass rush trio with Timmy and Judon. But I think those two are our starting OLBs which is why I don't think we NEED to spend high draft picks there.
With alot of depth in the draft being at IDL/EDGE/RUSH you can add good players at those positions later while potentially getting starters at 2 other positions. Just shows the different possibilities the direction of the Ravens can go at this point.

As for Elgton Jenkins and Kelvin Harmon being available at those points I'd think to be very likely and could very well be interchangeable prospects as they're similarly rated prospects in that sweet spot of the draft. I like Jenkins and pondered taking him there but I just like McCoy a little better. I'm no scout tho so who knows.

Deebo's injury is are worrisome but if he keeps them under control like he did this season, I see no reason he cannot play the outside in time his injuries are really his biggest flaw imo. Every rookie we bring in is going to need time to adjust outside of maybe the big bully Butler. In the right situation I think he can explode in the league rookie year.
Im not a fan of Harmon as he just seems a little slow and I see his absolute ceiling as a good possession guy. Idk if he can separate consistently against NFL dbs. I can see the fit for our needs at this point but I just like other guys more.

Yeah, the trade scenarios usually make things extremely unpredictable but this is what an unusual amount of free time has led me to lol watching film and dreaming of Ravens grabbing some of these guys and watching them grow with our now young team.

I would love double dipping with d'andre Walker and Hollins. Both are guys I really like
What do you think about Christian Miller from bama?

Trayveon is one of my top guys too. Another late round back I love is Ozigbo. Who is your #1 back? Jacobs?

I love Miles Sanders as well but think he'll go sooner than we should invest a pick in a back. Round 2-3

I don’t think harmon will struggle to separate because he does things that translate, he sells fakes, wins leverage, takes convincing choppy steps in the stem to make corners panic, he’s just very smart with his separation.

Something I pointed out in the wr thread that I noticed was that Ryan Finley did him no favors, against zone coverage harmon would often have the soft spot and just need Finley to throw to a spot for him to get it, but instead he would lead him as if he was running a crosser and throw it right into coverage, he was literally throwing an open harmon into the next zone defender. It turned what should’ve been big receptions into a play where harmon had to play DB. I saw it quite often. I liked Finley really until 2 days ago when I started to pick up on this.

Interesting to hear what you like about his game. I'll give him another look when I get bored. I haven't looked into Finley too much besides knowing he had Harmon and Meyers.

And emezie who might end up the best of all of them.

But yeah he was put in some really bad situations by Finley and still managed to come scarily close to making catches on a good few of them

I know nothing of Emezie honestly. (Or the wr class next year the I've seen compared to 2014)

But I like what I hear honestly as I usually prefer the crafty/refined wr prospects. I'll take another look see if you change my mind. Too bad we don't have that 2nd round pick tho as he would be a good target in that range.

Yes to Thornhill. Talk about popping off the screen. He has that alpha ball hawk style and he looks to have the range to play deep. What round is he projected to go?

Considering we lost Sizzle and ZDS, pass rusher is a must.
I'd be very happy man if that turns out to be Ferguson.

I think we will either trade back or select select ol/pass rusher

I think we will either trade back or select select ol/pass rusher

If we use our first on a passrusher they better get him on the field his rookie year even if it's only obvious pass rush situations. I don't want to pick a pass rusher only to have him sit behind Judon and Timmy Williams while we could have taken literally anyone for the offensive side of the ball to help Lamar.
