Avengers: Endgame officially clocks in at 3hrs and 2 mins long....

I’m so ready.

I do not like the sound of that - very few films make good use of a run time that long

This worries me quite a bit - especially given how much I’m not a fan of the Russo brothers marvel outings so far
I don't like it either.

I FUCKING LOVE IT!

You really don't like the Russo's movies? Winter Soldier is probably my favorite Marvel movie so far. I honestly think if it wasn't for them, Marvels ship might have sunk in phase 2.

I think it's a good run time because there is a lot that needs to be addressed in the film. And I will be watching this Thursday night and reading draft results when I get home. We probably trade down any damn way.

winter solider i thought was ok but fundamentally could have been a lot better with some fairly simple changes
civil war and infinity war would probably be pretty low in my ranking

this video has some interesting thoughts on the russo brothers films - and makes a lot of points that i agree with on why their 3 films dont really engage me in the same way many of the others do... not saying this is the be all and end all of their films and others are entitled to disagree but i find myself very much aligned with this video's take: the section on the russos as directors in the MCU starts at 9:44 and ends at 15:44

although if you're interested i would recommend the whole video (and the others in the series he's made)

honestly the MCU would have been fine without winter soldier - financially it made the 3rd least of all the films in phase 2 (only ahead of ant-man and thor: the dark world)

and while this is subjective i will say that it's probably indicative that the Russos helmed my 2 least favourite of the phase 3 movies also...

I don’t know if I can say I’m EXCITED for this one after episode 8, but having JJ back does give me hope.

I'm ignoring all outside comment sections until I see Endgame. People are ruthlessly trying to spoil the movie

Avengers Endgame is good.... very good. It’s not a game breaking movie but it’s an epic popcorn flick.

I’ll post my full thoughts when others have seen the movie.

Okay, so let me get started. The movie is a good, solid 8/10. Not too long, and is far more tonally consistent than infinity war, and a far better movie in my eyes. The action is good, and the story for the most part is good.

But what the movie does to Thor and Captain America almost ruins it for me. Thor, despite being more comedy relief, has gone an arc in the last two movies that has been wasted now. Thor would never leave his kingdom, and Captain America's problem is far more egregious. Essentially, the timeline has become fucked because of Cap. The movie, the more and more you think about it, makes no sense.

But when it works, it works. It's probably the best Avengers movie. It's got a lot of heart, it's funny when it should be, and it's tonally better.

Good movie.
