Top 10 Ravens all-time

Hall of Famer
I’m not real high on Ngata myself. He had a lot of slack in him it seemed. That said we did him absolutely wrong. Moving him away from a 1 gap 3tech destroyed what could’ve been a hall of fame career. He was great enough to do what we asked of him at the highest level, but it was a much more demanding task and it came with none of the flash or recognition that he would’ve had if he had stayed in his 06-08 role. The defensive philosophy change that came with Greg mattison just ruined what looked like the next raven great. If you recall between 09-12 every outlet out there had at least one analyst picking Ngata as their DPOY favorite in the offseason just because of what he did under Rex Ryan and they were waiting on that one huge season from him, it would never come because of mattison and pees and their bullshit system.

That said I don’t see him in nearly the same light as a sizzle, for me he’s a notch above Bart Scott and right around Chris McAllister/Jamal Lewis territory as far as recognition as a ravens great.
Ngata might get to the hall anyway. Not as a first ballot guy, sure, but what he did on the field until 2014, he was nothing short of a dominant player.

I don't necessarily agree. I remember him being an absolute game wrecker in 2012 as a 2 gapper. He was double teamed almost 100% of the time and in the run game, offenses couldn't come close to stopping him.

Where it hurt him was as a pass rusher, but he was probably the most dominant run defending DT the Ravens have ever had, and in his day was one of the best in the league. People forget how good he was even if he could've been more, and the honest truth is the defense has missed him sorely.

i never said he wasnt a great player, just that as a one gapping 3tech he clearly wouldve been dominant in the pass rush, and he basically never got to do that after 2008 when rex left. and yes, he was dominant as a run defender his entire time, nobody is debating that, im just saying he shouldve been the greatest DT of his generation quite possibly, all it wouldve taken was a different scheme that wouldve allowed him to make more impact plays on money downs

I don't think Ngata is a hall of fame player. In fact, after 2010 i was kinda dissapointed in him. He didn't really take it the the next level IMO. He's a very very good player but I was waiting for more and it actually became less. Don't get me wrong, he was a great player but he wasn't as dominant as we all thought he was going to be.

I forgot about Ngata and how dominant he was. The first ravens game I ever watched when I really knew what was going on was the 2011 season opener. Never understood that we could lose after that week lol.

He’s easily a top 10 raven for me. Then again I don’t really know much about guys like Chris

Ravens Ring of Honor
Yanda > Ngata
Yanda > Jamal
Yanda > Heap
Yanda > Rice
Yanda > McAllister
Yanda > Mason
Yanda > Flacco
Yanda = Sizzle
JO > Yanda
Ed > Yanda
Ray > Yanda

Can I just say as someone who has had to do a lot of math lately, its absolutely tilting for me that you moved Yanda over to the right for the last 3 when he was on the left for the first 7

Just to remind, or provide insite for those that don’t know, in his prime Haloti was one of the most dominant defensive players in the game. Injuries started to pile up and slowed him a bit but he was still a major force whenever he was on the field for the Ravens and was always double teamed no matter where he lined up. He rarely missed a game and the notion that he “took plays off” or was somehow slacking are just silly, mistakenly characterized that way when he was playing injured. Fact is he rarely missed a game and played through injuries that would have sidelined most.

He's still the best WR we've ever had and I remember him making a ton of clutch plays. Hoping that Hollywood can change that....
No question Mase is the most successful WR the Ravens have had. While he was a gamer and dependable guy, it's kind of a sad commentary on our history at the position that he holds that distinction.

I remember he had a TV show where he would have a different team mate come to his house each week, shoot pool and shoot the shit. It was pretty cool.

Most definitely. Not to mention that almost all of our best WRs have been veteran FA pick-ups (Mason, Boldin, and Smith). Qadry was decent for a time and so was Torrey, but we've barely taken any high shots at WR in the draft and we've failed miserably when doing so. Maybe Hollywood and Boykins can start to reverse our luck at drafting WRs.

It was Flacco’s fault.
