Idk if it makes sense but i think a big reason for that SB success, especially against the pats... is that it was hard to game plan for us.. at times our team was so inconsistent that you never knew what were gonna do or rely on... we never relied on one single player or game plan for our offense so i feel like teams couldnt single in on one thing, like how BB usually locks in on your top wr, or run game.. our team was just too versatile..

Falcons team that year was also similar to ours, but their coaches just got out smarted. Thats what i like about harbaugh, his game decisions are very good.

Lol

IDK.......Ravens 2012 D wasn’t so hot, ranked in the bottom half. I think the difference has been Joe historically performing outstandingly in the post season. Ryan, pretty much the opposite.
2012 was a story of injuries throughout the entire regular season, but most of the key players really got healthy for the postseason and the 2012 defense was pretty insane in the postseason. They allowed just 7 touchdowns but had 10 turnovers. They had an absurd SIX interceptions and five forced fumbles, four of which were recovered. They also ranked first in sacks and passer rating allowed. The Ravens defense was MONSTROUS in the playoffs and not a unit that should be written off because they missed most of their key contributors during the regular season. I still remember playing against Washington with like the third and fifth string inside linebackers or something stupid like that because the Ravens were so ravished by injuries at that point.

Also, while I agree that Flacco after his first two seasons was one of the greatest postseason quarterbacks of this decade, his first two years were abysmal. If we look at Ryan's first three seasons, they were mediocre, but not really Joe's first two years bad. However, these past three years, Ryan has been a standout in the postseason. He's been arguably one of the best players in the postseason, if he can actually make it. 2016 should go down as easily the greatest playoff run to not win the Super Bowl and would have arguably been up there as one of the greatest postseason runs ever if he had won. Sadly, Shanahan outsmarted himself.

Jimmy, McClain, Suggs for the first 6 all come to mind immediately. Pretty sure Ngata missed time.

I'd have to double check because that defense was straight snake bitten to an absurd degree.

I forgot McClain was even on that team. Ellerbe filled in great and earned his payday.

Well Ngata was certainly healthy when the Skins played the Ravens in game 12 or 13. RG3 will vouch for that.

He is freakish for sure but you have odell at 5”11 who does the same exact stuff as julio with a worse Qb. Julio is the man but imo we have better chance at seeing another julio in the nfl before we see another odell..
Totally disagree haha but to each his own opinion

Ngata went out in the middle of the super bowl and then our run defense immediately went to shit. It’s a big reason we got a bunch of defensive linemen the next offseason like Canty, drafting Bwill, Spears. One could argue that Ngata going down was as big of a factor as the blackout was for the niners getting back into that game

Haloti’s last 3 years in Baltimore were marred by numerous injuries. Knee sprains, shoulder separation, deep thigh contusion, etc., etc.. that he played through without complaining. People ignorant of his physical ailments were saying he was “taking plays off”, “slacking”. Facts are he was on the field when most would have been on the sideline, a true warrior.

eh, Ryan's numbers show good performance, he is a talented player and considering what he has had for weapons I wouldn't expect much less. It's fun to imagine what Joe's career in Baltimore would have been with weapons the caliber of Roddy, Tony G, Julio, Sanu, etc..

For me, watching both play for the past 10 years I would hands down take Joe in pressure situations including the playoffs. IMO when the heat is on he has looked the calmer, more poised QB.

Well tbf Joe's face never changed expression which always allowed him to look calm. Here's Joe getting tackled in college.

And on the other hand, Ryan has had that “deer in the headlights” look when the big lights go on. I would like to see him get over the hump but I have my doubts he ever will.

Ryan had an offensive genius and maybe physically the most gifted WR in the league along with a good WR corps, two good RBs, and a top 5 OL at the time. That was by all measures his only good postseason. I'll give credit where credit is due, but historically you're right.

But to play devil's advocate, there he's been hindered by Sark the past two years and his AWFUL playcalling. He went from having a genius in Shannahan to basically me running an NFL team.

I feel like even you would throw it to JJ in the red zone... or at least keep him in the game... hell Sark is so bad I honestly think picking random plays from an NFL playbook would have yielded better results. Yes sometimes they will be very confused by your fake punt on 2nd and 8, but at least you arent pulling your star in the most important part of the field.

Using “Ask Madden” is a more effective offensive coordinator than Sark.

We give Marty, Trestman, and Cam crap.. nothing has been worse than Sarkisian. He might’ve been the worst OC I’ve seen in a long time.

No doubt sarkisian is bad, but Ryan has just not been clutch when he needs it the most. In the 2017 playoff game against the Eagles he made bad decisions and bad throws and just looked out of sorts. J Jones played a darn good DB in that game otherwise Ryan would have had at least two picks.

Who else is proud of Lamar Jackson who had his second outing with his receivers thus tying Flacco's career total as a Raven??

that is exciting to see the want in Lamar Jackson and also said with all the what ifs with Joey.

it just did not make any sense to me why he would insist on not working out with the receivers. especially when we got new ones like Perriman.

It definitely proves that Lamar has a great work ethic, but let's hope this translates to RESULTS on the field and I ain't talking about just training camp.

I guess it needs to be said here as well....Ray Lewis and Ed Reed were 2 of the most inspirational people in and out of football. Maybe its cause Ray isnt make much sense these days and most dismiss his legacy....that hardnose football life is catching up on him.

Without Ray we wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs any of those years.
