Signings, Cuts, Trades

The 2016 pre-draft was the beginning of the end for me on BR.com. It was the year I decided to call out all of the horrible draft analysis done on those boards.

The most common "guaranteed homerun picks" were to grab Hargreaves in the 1st, and Noah Spence on the 2nd. I remember people having heart attacks when we didn't trade up like 3 spots in the 2nd round to land Spence.

Question is would you have preferred DeForest Buckner over Stanley in a re-do?

Obvious second round misses include Michael Thomas and Derrick Henry, among others.

Also fun fact... we took Bronson Kaufusi (ouch) at #70. Another DE went at #69. That was Yannick Ngakoue.

late to this but jesus did I hate the Noah Spence hype. I don't like Florida dbs either.

3 years $66M with $40M guaranteed, crazy but I'd figure that would be the number we have to pay Stanley. Good short term deal to get him money now and get back to the free agent market sooner.

Thinking short term contracts at a high amount will become the new normal. Potential offers for Stanley using $22M a year as the base.

3 years $66M, same deal as Tunsil
4 years, $88M, more money
5 years $110M, cap is spread out more.
6 years $132M, cap is spread out.
7 years $154M, cap spread out.

Some interesting names that could be on the block today, such as Curtis Samuel, Larry Warford and Joe Thuney. The last two could be interesting for us. Today is probably the last day to trade Judon as we likely want a 2nd or 3rd. No offers for Yannick yet. Let’s see if that changes.
Thuney is WAY out of our price range.

According to reports, its actually $57.8M guaranteed, not $40M. $40M is what he gets in the first two years.

What I'd like to know is if this is an extension on his existing option year, or a new three year contract. An extension on an already option would be putting him under contract for 4 years, and that would make it closer to a 4 year, $78-80M contract.

Even if we get Judon off the books tonight?
LOL, no. We can afford pretty much anybody if we get rid of Judon.

But Judon for Thuney + whatever relatively small amount of cap space we'd have left isn't exactly a trade I'd make. If I'm moving on from Judon, it better involve pass rush help. Without it, I don't really know that anything else we do matters.

True that. Hopefully we draft his replacement tonight ;)

Lost just tweeted me and said he hates the 66m deal Tunsil just got and doesn't think we will extend Stanley. I think it's a no brainer that he gets extended.

why wouldnt we extend stanley?
if we werent going to extend stanley we could have drafted his replacement at 28

that just seems preposterous - why throw away an all-pro player at one of the most important positions in football where the quality through the league is generally fairly poor

and more importantly why would you take that away from lamar jackson who no longer has the benefit of marshal yanda too...

who are we going to pay other than stanley with that money who would be even close to as valuable?

If you talking about Matt Judon then im not sure if there's availabe edge rusher currently to handle the Sam linebacker role for day one other than Zack Baun but he's a bit under sized for the position.

That makes exactly zero sense.
Stanley was the best Ravens pick since Suggs, at a premium position, playing at top level.
