As a journalist, who believes in objectivity and facts and all that jazz, this bolded part made me vomit blood. Every journalist I know, young and old, including those who are registered Republican, consider Fox News to be a vile joke. Their ethics are poor. Their standards are low. They contribute nothing to society but fear mongering and pot-stirring. Fox News represents everything wrong with this country. Controversy for the sake of controversy. Hyper-polarized. Lacking substance. That network is a significant part of why this country is so divided. They routinely tell one side of the story, and it's oftentimes, not even factual. Case in point: when Comey got fired, their headline said that he resigned. What a joke. Not even the WH tried to say that Comey resigned. I can't remember a single time Fox News actually made headlines for breaking news instead of being a rabble rouser. At least CNN can say they actually break real news. At least Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, and Anderson Cooper actually hold both parties accountable in interviews.

Fox's viewership is huge because they pander to half of the country's ideology, and old people -- that was Roger Ailes's entire business plan. To pander. It makes for cheap ratings. The rest of the news outlets share the rest of the population. Their content is a joke. When Bill O'Reilly got fired, I laughed. When Roger Ailes died last week, I threw a party. That man was the anti-Christ.

If you're going to tell me that CNN has an agenda, you're going to have to give me examples, because as someone who actually does this for a living, I'm here to tell you authoritatively that CNN and Fox aren't even comparable.

Show me that headline!!!

Why don't you think Jeb is smart?

Sir, you never answered my question. What has Trump accomplished?

What did Obama accomplish?? Create Obamacare which is taking from the working class and giving to the poor. Show me the federal govt has a right in the Constitution to control healthxcare or education. 10th amendment if you didn't know. Oh yeah also destroyed middle east and created the JV team. Golf clap

Trump has done a lot you know fighting the media and their fabrications. You should know better. A lot of people don't. They just read headlines. FB,Google you name it is controlled by the left and don't get me started on George Soros puppetmastering all theses protests. You know a foreigner.

You are right that a lot of things are just every day, part of the job tasks. But technically speaking, anything he does at all is just part of the job, so the question being asked really isn't all that clear.

Withdrawing from TPP and NAFTA was one of the only things he has done so far that has been praised by both parties. I'm sure there are a few people here and there who might disagree, but they are the vast minority.

Then of course there is the "muslim ban", which nobody peeped a word about when Obama did it, but when Trump does it, well....we saw how that went. Then when the hypocrisy is pointed out, there are vague answers about how "it's different".

Anyway that list is too long to go through, all I can say is that Trump is performing pretty much as expected. He has done a lot of what he said he was going to do, and has predictably stumbled along the way. His real problem is the Republican party. Those ass clowns are too busy fighting with each other than they are interested in working with the president on getting real things accomplished.

My biggest disappointment? He has yet to even touch anything regarding infrastructure. He says that it is better that the health care bill gets done first, for whatever reason.
[doublepost=1495637195,1495637033][/doublepost]
Yeah, that shit just makes me sick.
"Comey is a vindictive, incompetent piece of crap. How is he still employed, especially after that Hillary thing during the election?"
"Oh look, Comey must be this close to uncovering the grand Russian conspiracy, that's why he got fired!"

He hasn't withdrew from NAFTA yet. That still supposed to be negotiated. I think. And the infrastructure they gotta pass the budget bill.
[doublepost=1495662888][/doublepost]
They ran it on TV. Here's a Snopes story on it: http://www.snopes.com/fox-news-comey/

OK but they corrected themselves sop its not fake news

"The media and their fabrications." I'm sorry. I can't have a well mannered discussion with inane comments like that.

As for Obama, ended the recession, enacted stricter regs on banks, tax cuts in 2010, mobilizing out of the Middle East, and something like 24 straight months with GDP growth over 1.5 percent -- a streak ended with Trump's beginning. That's without using google by the way.

To blame ISIS on Obama is to complete ignore Bush's involvement in Fallujah. That's where ISIS started. But that's okay. You don't have to blame the guy that went in there and radicalized everyone. Go ahead and blame the guy that tried clean up.

Saying Obamacare is taking from the middle class and giving to the poor is so goddamn objectively false I don't even know where to begin. It is tightening the middle class, but that's because the GOP Congress hasn't funded the subsidies -- which come from the highest tax bracket -- at adequate levels.

We had to get out eventually, especially since Dubya had no designs on getting out.

Republicans didn't have a majority in 2010.

Still did it. It's not as though he came in before the recession and simply elected not to do it. He did it when he came in to help fix the problem.

Ok, i need someone to try to explain something to me, if its possible. I have heard so many stories of people talking politics and losing friends, co-workers, family, etc....How? Is this just people who are so close minded and ignorant, they wont hear any other opinion? Some of us here are from way different backgrounds, voted for different people, view life laws differently...is there something that another poster would say to make you not talk to them?

There is a couple posters here that we know each other for awhile: Sledgehammer, Grim, flyn, Bmorebird, Lost, JFlex, Militant, RavensMania, Sami, Williback, Kdog, Spicey, The Raven, Ellicott. We have been debating for years, outside of you guys being straight up racist/sexist, i dont know there is any views in life you could cause me to not want to have a beer with any of you ( can you drink legally Lost?). Hell, hopefully sledge and i hit up a game this year in Baltimore (Nov 5th im there in Nashville).

My mom (RIP 4/22/17) raised me to be open minded, hear others opinions. Thats how you learn and grow as a person. Im not political per-say, but the interaction between each other is what interest me. Carry on.

I agree @usmccharles.

I believe the issue with politics or even religion comes in when people attempt to belittle or attack someone else for having a different view or opinion than theirs. Just because I express my views and opinions doesn't mean that I have to attack or belittle anyone else's. I too enjoy the interaction.

I'd argue making yourself stand out and making people want to hire you is the most important part of working hard to move up in society.
So let me ask this, then.

How do you do that? Graduating in two years with multiple extra curricular and having prior research experience in a chemistry lab at my college wasn't enough to get me a job at an outside lab. Tell me how else to stand out.

Also, keep in mind my family had the money to send me to a college at all when saying people need to work hard.

You are correct, people should be able to advance in life based on their actual ability and nothing else. Unfortunately, this isn't always the case in certain areas in America.
Try most. It isn't easy to advance yourself in America if you are not set up with all the tools from birth (money being a major driving factor).
[doublepost=1495666180][/doublepost]
So what is the rest of the equation?
Let me frame it this way.

You have two students who were born into opposite ends of the spectrum financially.

Rich student goes to an elite private school and has tutors every night to help him understand his work. He spends maybe two hours a day on school during the week days and because of his money, he's able to participate in several extra curricular activities and keep up with a rigorous schedule.

Poor student is from an inner city and has parents that both work two jobs, both working nights. Poor student struggles with his/her homework, but puts in effort all night long to understand her studies. Due to having to work because his/her parents are poor or having younger siblings to watch, the poor student is unable to participate in after school activities and is relegated to only his/her rigorous class load.

Let's say both had the exact same classes and both had the exact same GPA. Which do you think is getting into college ahead of the other or getting scholarships ahead of the other? Student one, all day.

So that is the answer to my question? Economic / Social status?

I think that's a major driving factor, yes.

There's a reason people are most likely to stay in their own economic class and more likely to fall out than to move up.

Its crazy. ( and part of the reason I see no real good coming from a political thread on these boards)
I have actually had two friends, actual legitimate we know each other in real life friends, "unfriend " me on Facebook after the election. Seriously makes me question ones definition of friendship.
That is just crazy to me. I enjoy when others have different opinions because i feel like that's how we learn, or at least i do. Don't worry, i'll never leave you

Very sorry about your mom Charles :( Thank you

I never understood it either. I actually read online how a couple refused to marry because they disagreed over most of GWB's policies when he was in office.
Over the internet, it is hard to convey tone. I know a lot of people have mistakenly thought I was upset or angry because of the words I use, but I can count on one hand how many times I was actually peeved. Perhaps we see a lot of that in threads like this? It can be hard to criticize something or an idea without criticizing the person....I dunno
Yea, i know exactly what you mean, it is equivalent to sarcasm through text. I have honestly never been peeved/triggered in my entire life (or at least i cant recall a single time). Last year i had a long red beard, like a viking basically, i had someone woman at a bar yelling at me at i am a Muslim terrorist and should be ashame of myself and i dont deserve to be a Marine....because i have read the Quran. My reaction: cheers and took a shot of Vodka.

Just to make sure we are on the same page. It is your claim that a MAJOR factor is economic / social status. Your words not mine so I will assume you will affirm that.

In your hypothetical both subject have the "exact" same GPA so I would think that academics alone is not the divide, but I can only assume school history ? Home address?
*shrugs* any clarification?

Did it look like this? :D

I agree with you, I think it's important to be able to look at the other side, regardless of what you believe, and try to understand where they are coming from.

Fox News, MSNBC, CNN. All equally shitty in my book. I watch all three. Only one that is shamelessly shitty is fox.

That said, there are people on all three worth watching imho. And people on all three that make me suicidal.

Was kind of surprised Fox didn't hire Tomi Lahren

Pretty much my family has moved up. My grandparents when moved to the states in Baltimore couldn't afford a car. Now I'm not sure of everything (real estate) the family owns I don't bother to keep up with it. Cuz it's not what is most important to me. And I never asked for a thing. I know my cousins have. I don't care for details but it's pretty apparent all of them have.

Have you ever seen her without make up ?

MUCH prettier.

I am not a fan of make up.

I'm not gonna lie I really like make up on a girl. And I really appreciate her getting all dolled up and the time and effort she puts into it. It is cute as hell and I appreciate it!! Very much!!
