That was no more trash than the fiancé uploading the private convo for the world to see. It was an emotional and irrational and frankly, for them, a scary situation, can’t expect humans to not have human reactions.

people say irrational shit when their head is in the wrong place, a shitty text message that was probably more of a tongue in cheek statement than anything should not be held over the dudes head for the rest of his life.

not suggesting it will be held over him the rest of his life - it likely won't even be close to ending his broncos career - just means he won't ever be a raven...

We don't know that the Ravens are interested or even discussing him. Frankly, this is all just fan talk.
As I've said already, I don't think Von is or will be available anyway.

Sportrac has Von as a likely FA. The point with mentioning him was the 10M price tag they have him at if he hits FA is more in the ballpark as a potential replacement to Judon. I don't see us ponying up the dough to pay either Judon or Ndakoue. I still think, as others have pointed out about Wink, he finds players who thrive in the system he uses. Two Von-types at that kind of money do more for us than spending 18-20Mil/yr on Dupree, or other top-tier guy, imo. I don't look at us as bargain basement shoppers, but I think we're looking for hits over HR potential and the price-point that goes with hits over HR's. ;)

I had forgotten about Von's texts. I don't think it eliminates him from our consideration, but I also think the FO would tend toward someone else if the money were the same and the play was considered comparable. Any "blemish" nowadays is seen as cancer. Sadly, that's the way the world has become. But for the Ravens, to say that they are gun shy about anyone with a DV "blemish" would be an understatement after the RR incident. And on the heels of ET and his bro being held at gunpoint by ET's wife... DV - or its lesser relative, nasty texts to spouses/girlfriends- is simply the kind of press that they are going to avoid like the plague. All of that stuff is blood in the water to sports writers. What enterprise wouldn't want to avoid that...

But I'm with you that a text seems far less worrisome than even the stuff a lot of these dopes post on social media. Teams are going to draw the line in different places and each line is going to be informed by the experience it has had with handling PR incidents.

The only thing neither mentioned is the salary cap pressure we have to even entertain one of the top guys. I think any WR would be crazy not to sign with us despite potential target numbers. We are a SB candidate right now. Why would a WR not choose to play here? Because we can't give them the money they want. Period. We can't give them the money they want without us having to trim some salary somewhere else. And if Lamar gets extended, that ability shrinks further.

Look for a trade partner that can send us a WR for OBJ and a couple day 2 picks???

Well and we can't give WRs the targets they seek. A lot of these "alpha" WRs care a lot more about footballs being throw their way than winning games. I have zero doubt that a lot of them would rather have 15 targets per game than 15 wins per season. This offense isn't really conducive to having like a 1200, 1300 yard receiver.

I'm not saying nobody wants to come play here. But if the money were equal, I'd bet a lot of receivers would rather play for Joe Burrow than Lamar Jackson. The Bengals, just by roster construction, pretty much have to throw the ball 45-50 times a game. The Ravens, in an ideal game, are probably only throwing the ball like 25-30 times. With Hollywood and Andrews on the roster, how is any receiver going to get a good target share on 30 pass attempts? They're not.
 
JuJu, Marvin and maaaaaybe Davis are my targets. Of course, some really good ones might be available soon by trade or cap casualties. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again even though it contradicts my posting of the video above: we don’t need a #1. Just someone reliable that fits our system and wants a legit shot at a title.
 
It definitely takes a certain type of personality to play WR for these Ravens. Not a big Skip fan, but he's right, if a player is serious about winning, they'd come to the Ravens. If they wanna compile numbers, then they can go to Dallas or Cincy and win 8 games.

I don't really want AJ Green, but that's the type of guy I could see ending up in Baltimore. Someone that's put up their numbers and they just want to win at this point. Emmanuel Sanders fits that too, and to a lesser extent Sammy Watkins. Corey Davis could be the most likely of all the big names, coming from a run heavy offence in Tennessee. I'd love Samuel or Golladay, but someone is going to throw bags of money at them.

And you have to remember that Lamar is obviously better than Dilfer so idk what the hell Shay was talking about. Plus we should have a better passing scheme without Culley. I don’t want Green. The way he slumped his shoulders with his head down pissed me off. Watkins wouldn’t offer us anything. I’d like to think EDC has bigger plans than those two.

That’s how Eric gets down. Ravens trade rumors couldn’t have been colder when they landed ngakoue, there wasn’t a single link to earl thomas. Seems when it comes to FA Eric looks at all the suggested zigs in the media and just intentionally zags, dudes the ultimate troll
