oweh's sack was an effort sack but he showed a ton of promise on a few other rushes where he got pressure including 1 (that i havent got to yet with the coaches film but stood out live) where he flattened the edge hard to close on carr

the inability to get to carr was frustrating but i think oweh showed us all some very encouraging signs as a pass rusher (and not just as an athletic linebacker)
this includes Averett's interception in OT.

tbf to marlon he got picked by his own guy on that play - play was absolutely over by the time he negotiated the pick... like obviously you wanna see effort but there's no chance in hell he's making that play ever...
I honestly think you play that one out. Carr put insane loft on it and the receiver slowed down. What if Jones bobbled it? Marlon could make a play.

Realistically, the game was over the second it was complete regardless if he was tackled because a field goal wins it, so I'm not too too upset.

Yeah, I was maybe a tad too negative because I am thrilled about Oweh and I am so excited to see him continue to grow. I thought he looked amazing for a player who didn't register a sack as a senior (dispelling the narrative in game 1 feels nice.)

Very excited with Oweh, just not the pass rush as a whole.

the nature of the loss is the most concerning - we didnt just lose in 1 trench, we lost in both trenches and significantly - we finally have weapons to distribute the ball to on offence (albeit losing JK and Gus is a major blow) and the secondary and 2nd level defenders on defence are high quality and deep (even after losing MP)

but if we lose in the trenches it's not gonna be a winning solution
It feels like the opposite of what I've grown accustomed to as a Ravens fan. I'm finally excited about the skill positions and the big uglies really lived up to their names. That's not something I thought I'd be saying.

yeah - i think it's definitely possible/probably it improves but Villanueva feels like the biggest issue and maybe least likely to improve on that OL - he's the only starter who's not missed any time during the offseason for injury etc.

Steelers fans were very assertive in the notion that he's just shot and done for. I think most people were optimistic that the scheme could cover for him, but he just looks like he cannot move, and that's an issue.

The good news is I actually think the interior played, for the most part, okay, and Stanley should get better with time. So, if the interior remains "fine" and isn't a total liability and Stanley gets back to 100%, then your only real concern is at RT and you can work around that. However, the Ravens cannot work around the absolute terrible showing BOTH tackles had.

im just surprised about the movement because he moved well in preseason - but he was getting no depth on his vertical sets at all and the raiders just kept lining up their pass rushers wider and wider to challenge his ability to get the right depth and he never did

Oh, it absolutely is. I'm just making sure this person never offers anything of substance, which from the few posts I've seen seems to be the case.
You don't think that last post was "Substance Related"? Upon the basis of Jackson's twitter post. Do you sincerely believe he has the background and character to be a Raven? My position is clear.

What are you implying?

There is nothing to imply, It is what it is. But its the same as it ever was with Lamar. The things he does well, he does well. The things he struggles with he continues to struggle with and they will not one day be miraculously overcome.

Twitter is a public forum. A Raven doesn't use it absent mindedly and with vulgarity. Lots of NFL athletes have "overused" Twitter and said things they regret, but not like that. Do you think he can maturely express himself in the manner of an NFL starting quarterback?

Lamar had the lowest Wonderlic score in the history of using that test to determine NFL QB aptitude.

Note how he lands on his head.

McJacket thinks the Ravens can get two first round picks for him. If that were remotely true it would be a No Brainer.

Well that would be the minimum.

The Ravens would of course never do that, because if they did, they'd just be going back in the draft hoping and praying to find a QB anywhere near as Lamar. And they can certainly come out of it with somebody far, far, far worse

Moot point, because opinions like yours don't hold any weight at the actual football intelligence level.

I do.
I can debate all day long what the "character" argument looks like, but lets just put it this way... some of the more famous, recognizable, and most synonymous Ravens in history have major character concerns. I don't think I need to re-hash what the general public thinks from a character perspective about guys like Ray Lewis or Terrell Suggs.

So yes, I'm OK with a QB using profanity on Twitter and still representing an organization that promotes legalized physical assault of other human beings.

I’ve always disregarded what this clown says on here, I’ll respond here and there but I never really think much of it, but coming after lamars character…. Yeah that ain’t cool, Lamar is of the HIGHEST character, cussing on Twitter is not a character concern.

Yeah, Lamar is an adult so he should be able to cuss all he wants.
