Hey there, all Ravens fans! Welcome to The PurpleFlock Forums! I am supertolerator, one of the founders of PurpleFlock, alongside @purplepittabread88. We have created a fun and safe environment where fans of the Baltimore Ravens can come together, chat, and hang out!
The PurpleFlock Forums are an unofficial replacement for the official Baltimore Ravens Message Board that closed on May 5th, 2017. We tried our best to recreate the type of community that was found on the official site. We are working alongside some very well-known members of the old forum. We even have some staff members from the old board moderating PurpleFlock! That way, old and new members alike can feel at home. That's not all though. We have also reintroduced some of the old smilies and emoticons found on the old official message board.
Our message board includes many great features to make your visit worth its while. Not only can you create threads and posts like in any other board, you can also chat to other members, live! This is extremely helpful during football season! While watching games, users can chat in real time! Continuing the theme of trying to recreate the old message board, we will be introducing a brand new post rating system that doesn't only consist of a like and dislike feature!
However, PurpleFlock can't be an exact copy of the old site. That's why we are changing some of the core aspects of the way the message board is run. We are listening to your feedback and suggestions. We understand that a lot of you feel that the moderation and administration of the old board were too strict and uptight, with too much regulation on what could be posted and what couldn't. PurplePitta and I want to change this. We are striving to create a forum where users can voice any and all opinions they may have without the fear of facing repercussions for what they post. Of course, however, we can't have any harm or belittling being done to others in the process. With that being said, there will be little moderation when it comes to what can be posted so long that it doesn't directly harm or affect a person or group of people. (For example, any forms of cyber bullying, extreme disrespect, etc. are not allowed.)
Something else that will be changed is the way profanity is handled. On the old message board, profanity was censored. However, the PurpleFlock forums are aimed towards an older demographic of users. Therefore, we will not be censoring profanity. However, the same goes for this as for posting moderation. The use of profanity can not be excessive and it can not be used to cyberbully or harm others. Remember, we are trying to create not only an entertaining but safe community for Ravens fans to spend some of their time on.
We would also like to remind everyone that work is far from being complete. There is still so much to be done in order to bring The PurpleFlock Forums to their full potential. A lot of the work isn't just done by the administration team though. We need your help! In order to grow our message board and new home to a populated community, we need you to share the board with your friends and family! On most if not all pages, you will be able to find buttons that can share that page to your social media accounts! By clicking on them and sharing PurpleFlock, you are aiding in the growth process that we so desperately need in these coming months. Not only can you help by sharing awareness of PurpleFlock, we want your feedback! Be sure to post any questions, concerns, or suggestions that you may have in the "Feedback" section on the forums!
We want to keep all of you in the loop with everything happening with PurpleFlock. In order to do so, we will be posting announcements once in a while with updates on the progress of the forums. These will cover the addition, changes, and removal of features and anything else that has to do with the message board. For even more updates and information, we recommend that you follow us on Twitter! You can visit our page by clicking here. PurpleFlock Twitter.
We'd like to thank all of the members that have signed up and posted since launch a few days ago. Without you, we wouldn't be able to get up on our feet and get PurpleFlock to where it should be!
Thanks again, and I can't wait to see our new home grow!
Go Ravens!
