Signings, Cuts, Trades

Are there any FAs out there that we really want on our team no matter how the draft goes? Or do we think we're at the point where it is dictated solely on the draft.

I saw a video of Ricard and Andrews standing together at the Pro Bowl. Ricard made Andrews looks small. I didn't think it was possible to make Andrews look small.
Ehh, maybe by weight, because Ricard has 50 lbs on him (as well he should as a FB/DT). Andrews is taller than Ricard, though.

I can't say there's anybody interesting until post-draft.

I'd still take Tretter or a decent Center in FA today, but I can wait on just about everybody else.

Yeah that's how I feel too. But there's gotta be a 0% chance we sign Tretter before the draft. I think they would have done it already of they wanted to. MAYBE the only other one could be clowney because we knew they were interested in him not too long ago but I also think that if they want him, it's an after the draft thing.

I don't expect us to make any signings before the draft, or if we do, it'll be low level guys, like a Bynes-level signing.

I think the only catalyst for potentially signing other FAs before the draft is if they want to get on a roster before a drafted guy does. Would imagine there are a number of standing offers across the league and some guys are going to make a decision in the next week. Already seen a couple of lower level guys sign the last few days.

I wonder if we could convince Donta Hightower to come to Baltimore. Something like 2 year 5.5 avg/yr. Solid vet presence for a thin LB corps.

I see so much concern about ILB for us but like… why bother? We invested a first round pick very recently and he’s played pretty promising, he’s a playmaker, and clearly our bigger issues are with pass rush and corners.

It’s just such a low value position and frankly unless we’re adding someone like a Bobby Wagner then it’s just not worth it, I don’t see how we’re gonna have enough of a tangible gain to go out of our way for a 2nd ILB. Roll with queen and bynes and a day 3 pick and make your bigger investments at the positions that will make a real impact. Same goes for the thought that we need to replace Hayden hursts production as if TE3 is a huge deal

From what I've heard he's probably more suited to play DT vs ILB because his mobility has fallen off a cliff
He is an early down player for sure, but its not that bad. I think he would fit nicely as a rotational piece between Bynes (who is equally as slow)and Queen.

I like Bynes and Queen, but the current depth chart is concerning. I don't want one of those guys getting injured and then we trot out Harrison or Welch.

Yeah I gotta agree. I think ILB is a deceptively important need. One Bynes is again only here one a 1 year deal. Additionally, 1 injury to either one of the starters and you're playing either a fundamentally bad player or a pure special teamer. If the injury is to Queen in particular you've just got no athleticism at the position at all. Drafting a guy there could make a big difference.

All that being said it's just absolutely the case that EDGE needs addressing and Corner is thin as fuck.

There’s only so much you can do, no team has starters plus depth at every single position because you just can’t afford it unless you hit on every draft pick. We as ravens fans see queen and bynes and Welch and Harrison but we don’t see the depth situation with other teams, we don’t look under the same microscope.

If there’s any spot on my team I’ll sacrifice depth to build depth elsewhere, it’s ILB, TE, and RB. I literally don’t give a single fuck about ILB3 when we don’t even have a CB3

ILB is a position that I'd hit if things lined up, but I'm not bending over backwards for anyone. We played a lot more dime last year and have a hard time seeing that being any different this year (and probably more) with the addition of Williams which allows Stephens to roam more. I certainly love a strong middle but it's lower on my list of concerns now that Bynes is back. A mid round depth piece would be nice. It's a pretty deep LB class.

ive got no issues with not adding a LB high or with high priority
but im not going to sit here and pretend that the unit could not benefit massively (and also massively help the team) by adding talent to the group - im not advocating for significant draft capital, but nor would i be against it if that's the direction we go

i think someone like damone clark (also LSU) would be a major add - but unfortunately has the combine spinal thing so wont be available as a rookie - in dane brugler's most recent mock draft he got picked in the 7th round - he's a 2nd round talent in my view so it's a shame he wont be a viable option high

but he would be someone id love to add for the future on day 3 and just take the lost year and think of him like an extra 2023 2nd rounder (with a 1 year shorter deal)

i also wont lie to you and tell you that i have ever loved the idea of spending high capital on LB but i also cant tell you that adding a dynamic athlete to go alongside queen wouldnt be a very exciting prospect

bynes is far better in coverage than hightower
hightower spent the entirety of last year getting victimised in the passing game
