“Yeah, I’ll get mocked for this… and that’s fine. If it makes your life happier to mock a random stranger, go for it. But is it possible that Reid is a better coach than Belichick? I mean, everywhere Reid has been, no matter the QB, they’ve been pretty dang successful. Belichick without Brady is mediocre at best and has been fired a couple times before. Reid has had success with players from the great ones like Pat Mahomes to the solid ones like McNabb to the very mediocre ones like Alex Smith. Even did a pretty solid job with making Vick into a better passer than he ever was even several years after he had been in the league”

It's very possible Reid is better. He is now, I think. He's always been very good but earlier he struggled with things like clock management and in-game decisions that Belichick was great at.

I don't know if 'the best coach' exists as thing outside of narratives we create. There are very god ones, and then it all comes down to situation, players, the state of the league and how their skillset fits in with all of that.

What we can say is that Darth managed all the variables he was given better than anyone else did, created a dynasty in a league built for parity and won 6 titles. So the narrative that Belichick is the best is pretty unassailable, whether it's true or not.

You state that Reid is possibly better, and probably is in fact better now. But then you go on to praise Belichick as a God and say he’s the best there’s ever been lmao

Lord Behold. Literally beautiful isn't it? fun trend btw- people are far more likely to post after a loss than they are a win

that's why sports are fun
it's about commiseration and company in loss more than it is about celebrating victories lol

misery loves company

So if I wanted to argue against it...
1. How would you define "success" for Andy Reid in the pre-Mahomes era? Like what's the measurement? Is it W/L record, is it playoff wins, is it SB victories, etc. Because depending on what the arbitrary measuring stick is, it completely makes or breaks your argument.
2. Not sure we should pretend like Belichick getting fired is a big deal, while simultaneously ignoring that Reid also has been fired as a HC. Feels like its a knock for both or neither.
3. Not sure we should be totally discounting the work that Belichick did without Brady. An 11-win season with Matt Cassel isn't exactly easy, nor is the fact that he was in the playoffs last year without Brady and close to it this year (with what I would consider to be some of the weaker rosters in the league).
4. They're obviously not "specialists" in the same area of football, i.e. Reid is considered an offensive guru, while Belichick is considered a defensive guru.
So if we're evaluating Reid based on what he's done with less talented QBs, feels like the only fair comparison would be to evaluate the historical effectiveness of Patriots defenses.

lol, I know many of my cousins, who live in the New England area and watch everyone of the Patriots games would agree with this. Not saying all, but RMC has some valid points as well.

I'd argue that Belichick built a first hand front office in Cleveland and that team was headed to the playoffs until they told the players they would be moving to Baltimore. I like both Belichick and Reid and agree with McJackett about there specialties being in completely different areas. I'd also argue that McNabb was much more than a solid QB, so it's not like he has been dealt the hand of having a bad qb at his disposal. Smith wasn't a bad QB.

McJackett hahaha…. I’ll take a BIG L on this discussion and accept helping with the creation of the name McJackett

Andy Reid is arguably a better playcaller and much more of a players coach, also seemingly does a better job choosing assistant coaches. Belichick on the other hand is a defensive mastermind, I’d say his defensive prowess is stronger than Andy Reid’s offensive prowess, and he has a more thorough understanding of football in totality, his knowledge of the rulebooks and ability to take advantage of loopholes to get a small leg up the most important of games is incredible. Our 2014 divisional round vs NE might have been the greatest coaching clinic ever seen in the nfl.

Mac jones isn’t Brady and he was never gonna be, can’t shit on Belichicks coaching prowess because he’s only had cam Newton and Mac jones since Brady left. Where I absolutely will shit on Belichick is his attempt at playing GM, he is the reason the patriots MIGHT have the worst roster in the nfl, and he also has the ugliest coaching tree of all the coaching trees, mcdaniels, Patricia, O’Brien, all egomaniacs who learned from bill and got their shot and bombed spectacularly.
