The Defence, the Offence, and the Tucker

I'm not as upset as I should be. Eagles are a SB contender. When you have a franchise QB and can win in the trenches on BOTH sides of the ball, you're typically gonna win double-digit games.

As I mentioned in the game thread, we're fake bullies. It's astonishing how clockwork it is when we make one mistake. The phrase "when it rains, it pours" should be our new motto going forward. We REALLY are gonna need to fix this OL because the pattern is GLARING with their performance and our wins and losses.

The most demoralizing event in football is when your kicker starts missing multiple kicks including extra points.

I think it’s even more demoralizing than a pick 6 which Lamar hasn’t thrown yet this season.

I can’t believe the hate Lamar is getting for this game. He's not remotely near the biggest reason the Ravens lost.

No, it wasn't his most spectacular game and it isn't a game where he was near perfect, but lost like Pittsburgh last year.

However, Lamar did enough to win. The pass to Andrews before the first field goal hit Andrews in both hands. And not in like a finger tips kinda way- it was 100% in both palms and it's dropped. That's then first and goal from about the two. That's a very likely four point swing. Agholor had two huge drops, including one that puts the Ravens inside the five. Instead, Justin Tucker missed a field goal, likely a seven point swing.

Tucker directly took seven points off the board with missed kicks. Three missed kicks is absolutely unacceptable. Kickers don't grow on trees at all, but Tucker is literally below replacement level. He's, if I'm remembering correctly, around 37th in the league in field goal percentage.

The Ravens offensive line was way more problematic than Lamar. They held up well when the Eagles were happy to sit back in coverage, but forbid they want to send pressure because they absolutely had their way with the offensive line. And it wasn't just Lamar being affected- Henry was fine, but he didn't have any explosive or consistent plays.

I said it ALL offseason- the offensive line is an absolute issue. I don't trust EDC to consistently build a strong team.

One of the biggest differences between the Eagles and the Ravens is the Eagles have absolutely nailed drafts and EDC hasn't. I know people will say that EDC was running drafts for years, but since Ozzie officially stepped down, the Ravens have only drafted two All Pros and one of those looks like a fluke. The other was probably the most no-brainer pick in the draft at that point (I say that, but the Vikings traded out to draft another safety later, so...) I think Flowers will eventually move himself into being an upper echelon tier pick alongside Linderbaum and Hamilton, but overall, the Ravens have drafted some guys who are good, but haven't hit on many great players.

It absolutely sucks because last year really looked like it should have been the year for the Ravens.

You can leave with him in the off-season you bitch

Tucker did not even give us a chance today. 53 and 47 are very manageable and at this point I've lost confidence in him. I think he's done for. I think they're moving on from him after this year. I would hope he turns it around but at this point it seems that he's lost a lot. We've seen it with all the great kickers in the Ravens history(It didn't help that Lamar took those sacks either).

Defense played a spectacular game. Wish they didn't give up the TD to Saquon but they bottled up the Eagles offense, only allowed 252 yards. I can't complain with how they played today and give credit to Zach Orr, he called one hell of a game.

Terrible job by the offense all around, Lamar missed some routine throws. I don't think he played as people are saying honestly, Philly played very discipline today. Their defense was insanely stout today.

Hoping this is just a typical coach answer and not his actual thoughts.

I'll have to agree. There's no one on the couch who's good enough to replace him this year. The guys coming off the couch are only going to continue our headache's with miss FGs this year. We're just going to have to hope and pray that Tucker turns it around.

I missed the game, who are my top 2 targets to be mad at?

Lamar can do a lot for the team. Against good teams, he needs some fucking help. Not just Andrews and DH.

This was a preview of what the defense on the other side might look like come playoffs. Time to stop kidding ourselves we can go deep with this O line and ST, without pass rush and maybe without Bate, as well.

The most disappointing aspect of all this is that we aren't a tough team any longer. Change at the top is required and cannot come any sooner./

All of you who are bitching about Lamar, just fucking stop. He is the sole reason we are always in the playoffs in the first place.

Yeah let’s just say he wasn’t Superman today. There were several times he should have run and didn’t. I thought he made some poor decisions there against a very good D.
Okay, but Likely ran the wrong rought, Aghelor dropped a beautiful pass, Hill wiffed on a block that lead to a sack and the Oline was doing their best impersonation of turnstiles. Lamar played well enough today against a great defense where IF the players around him did their jobs we win

Yeah I was unfair to Lamar when I said he played poorly. Overall he was fine but some poor decision making on run/pass hurt.

Special teams though WOW .

Oh, I also want to add regarding special teams-

Wallace's inability to field punts put the Ravens in so many holes. It felt like every time the Eagles punted, the Ravens had to drive 90+ yards.

That's incredibly unreasonable to expect from any offense. It also means that if the Ravens don't form a good offensive drive and are forced to punt, it puts the defense in a hole because they're having to defend a much shorter field.

This feels like the 2008 Chargers right now.
