The Malaki Starks, the Red Zone Scoring, and the Q4 Jump Scare

Could've been more convincing if Roquan Smith is able to corral the INT, but it's a tough grab and in front of a terrific young WR. Wild to see the Vikings have as many false start penalties. But I'm glad we were able to capitalize on the jumpiness with one of our most consistent pass rushing days this year. Unofficially, 7 QB hits and 15 pressures. Also, kudos to some of the short-yardage calling. The pitch to Lamar Jackson and the FB dive were terrific wrinkles.

Messy, messy game.

3 turnovers and 4 more turnovers on downs... but really should have been even more: Gilman dropped one, Roquan dropped one (apparently) but even so marlon should have sacked McCarthy to turn it over on downs anyway, special teams didn't get the 2nd fumble on the kickoff return

Offence was just so inconsistent and didn't do enough to kill off the game. Redzone offence looked better in the second half. Some nice plays on some key 3rd downs. But so many issues today on that offence: drops, missed blocks, batted balls... at least they didn't turn it over.

Most promising sign for the defence was that the pass rush appeared in that 2nd half. Mike Green looks like he might be starting to become what we hoped he could - had a bunch of nice rushes in the 4th quarter and was rewarded with a bunch of double teams too. Dre'Mont Jones looked good on debut too.

Keondre Jackson is a revelation on special teams. Outside of the 56 yarder missed by Loop, this was a pretty clean special teams game.

A win is a win. And we're not in a position to worry about how they come.
3 wins on the trot to stay in the race.

Also, shoutout to the ST unit for the forced fumbles. Keondre Jackson has been a revelation. And Keaton Mitchell as the spellback has added some much needed juice.

First impressions - very good showing by our D front but Vikings helped a lot with false starts. Corners clamped Jefferson pretty good.
Offense wasted too many short fields.

Mike Green is a real puss rusher. Jones allows for Mike to be let loose.

Big win.

Travis Jones, by the way. Looks like he's back in form these past few weeks and it's been huge for the front. It was nice to see Keyon Martin look stout on the last drive as well. Chidobe Awuzie, outside of the DPI. 0 for 3 in his direction, not including the failed 2 PT. There's real life to this unit. The offense shot themselves in the foot with the drops, but it's hard for me to complain after watching Minnesota be objectively more disfunctional.

I don’t understand how Monken has so little sense of the flow of the game.

Game 1 against Buffalo playing to punt was stupid because they both have Josh Allen and were scoring at will.

Meanwhile this game it’s effectively a rookie playing poorly and the defense was solid all day. You run the ball on 3rd down and dare them to go 90 yards in 1 minute with 0 timeouts and get a 2pt conversion just to get OT.

Standouts for me:

Offence (not many):
Lamar (as always) - stats won't show it but that Flores defence was firing so much at him with the rest of the offence falling flat in so many places
Zay

Defence:
Travis Jones - monster up the middle
Mike Green - more flashes than we've seen
Dre'Mont Jones - great debut
Nate Wiggins and Chidobe Awuzie - marshalled Justin Jefferson well
Malaki Starks - the INT but also a few other plays that show he seems to be triggering so much quicker than a few weeks ago

Special Teams:
Jordan Stout - continuing to progress and turn into a top punter
Keondre Jackson - this guy is a revelation on special teams and just keeps stacking

The ball came loose on the sidelines way too many times

Congratulations! You guys are back in the playoff picture and in the division race. I hope you guys get both accomplished! Great win today! Happy for you all!

Monken’s play calling is just puzzling. He mostly called a bad game but had a few unique surprises that led to a td ,

I was mostly pissed at him in particular this game.
