Coaching Carousel 2026

I just mentioned this individually via PM, but on the Weaver front...

People fear his defensive success (or lack thereof) but if he were to get the job, I would almost be willing to bet part of the agreement is that he is not going to be running the defense. There would be an expectation that the DC in place is in charge. I was told very explicitly that they viewed his as a much better HC candidate than a DC candidate and that was the biggest factor why he didn't get the job back when Orr did. I don't see that switching, especially after seeing similar themes down in Miami.
Am I the only who thinks that this logic is absolutely backwards? So they think he has what he takes to be Head Coach but won't promote him to Defensive Coordinator? Like do what it takes to make sure he doesn't leave the building? Maybe have some plan in place to make him successor or something? Sure, it didn't work out when the Patriots tried it with Mayo but I think that came down to Vrabel being available more than anything. Just odd the front office thinks that highly of Weaver but wouldn't promote him to the next tier that eventually leads to becoming a Head Coach. If anything, he leaves for a Head Coaching job elsewhere and we get a Draft Pick out of it.

In all fairness, I don't see anything wrong if a guy turns out to be Harbaugh at its best. I know it wore out over the last few years but it doesn't undo how good he was in the first 60-70% of his tenure.
Losing coordinator every 2yrs is not good imo. Believe it or not, that has been our downfall. lions look like a disaster right now too. Having an HC that is a good player will go a long way. I mean we had much success with john but im 1000% sure we wouldve won 1-2 superbowls these last few years with better coordinators..

He not gonna be the HC anyway… especially if we dnt get a good OC

No, not if you don't expect him to succeed as a DC. And he wasn't going to stay to be less than that here. Otherwise, we're basically saying: Hey, we know you're going to do a questionable job here and jeopardize our Super Bowl contention, but at least you'll be here when the head coach is inevitably fired for the team's underperformance. If anything, that would be the ill-advised alternative.

I'm watching Anthony Weaver interviews now. As much as I question his performance as a caller in Miami, I'm also intrigued by his leadership. Admittedly did not know about him much as a person prior to this coaching search.

He seems like somebody who'd be able to set a culture of competing. I feel a good bit more at ease about his hat being thrown into the ring.

A list of reoccurring issues the John refused to correct.
1. He repeatedly went for it on 4th down deep in our own area when the game was not on the line. This is worse than a fumble or interception.
2. Pre-snap penalties.
3. 4th quarter collapses
4. Players holding the ball away from their body (zay flowers, etc.)
5. Repeated Taunting penalties.
6. Soft on Players milking injuries. Mahomes wins on one leg high ankle sprain. Our guys need weeks due to sore muscles.

For the past 10 years we have watched the Ravens hand the ball to the opposing team to win the big games. I’m sick of that. I would rather get beat outright. We need a HC that is not star struck with Lamar. We need tough & mean.

They didn’t believe that he was going to make our defense better and also didn’t think they’d be looking for a new HC 2 years later at that time. They definitely swung and missed with Orr but that doesn’t mean Weaver should have been the choice just because they liked him as a future HC. Some guys just aren’t cut out for certain gigs.

Hear me out....... Matt Ryan President of Football Operations, John Harbaugh as Head Coach and Joe Flacco as starting QB!
