The Movie Thread

I’m interested in his Star Trek because I want to see him do something new and interesting - as great and well executed as all his films are - his filmography doesn’t exactly showcase a huge amount of variety and all are effective based off very similar structural principles (if not actually being structurally similar)
Completely agree.

Yeah I watched that years ago when J Law got her first Oscar nom for it

Gruesome film - brilliant but brutal
Lots of similarities in tone to wind river - harsh cold, harsh life, grief
Exactly what what i was thinking of, finishing it up now. Definitely brutal way of life. Im from the Ozarks (Arkansas Missouri Line) and this depiction of certain people is pretty damn close. Theres another movie it reminds me of...just cant put my finger on it.

Fargo (bit of a different feel)
Prisoners is kinda tonally similar
Frozen River (I haven’t seen it but from it’s look and feel it seems very similar)

Finished. Glad it came full circle, had a good feeling to it when the guy took his cut and gave the (trying not to spoil it) rest to J Law.

Just turned on 11.22.63 just to have something to watch. Got Vikings tonight at least.

Any other shows or movies come up recently?

Did you like it? I've seen people post good things about it on Twitter.

It’s awesome
This might be recency bias but it might be one of the best superhero movies of all time - off the top of my head I can’t think of one I’ve enjoyed more straight away...

On top of that the animation is unbelievably stunning and the music is incredible and I really genuinely didn’t want it to end

Well damn, I have to see it now. I had forgotten it was a thing until recently.

Art of the Steal was a pretty cool heist movie, worth the watch in my opinion, its on Netflix.

The Innocent Man on Netflix looks pretty interesting, ill give it a shot later this week.

Bad Santa has aged hilariously well. I haven’t watched this in a while, and watching it in 2018 is a goddamn treat. If people in 2004 were as sensitive as they are today, this movie wouldn’t have been released
