The Offensive Line Thread

Which leads me to this - we have two undrafted free agents starting on the Oline. That should never happen. Put more resources into the damn line
But they got hearts of lions

I’d like him to be replaced as well, but he is definitely serviceable
He’s not serviceable, before lamar came in and changed the offense he tanked gameplans. Defenses were keying in on him because you can wreck any gameplan by exploiting a weak interior, can’t run, can’t pass, can’t do shit, so go after him.

He’s so bad that his presence has literally ruined our chances for Flacco to play well, Flacco can’t play without a run game and can’t play with DTs in his lap, and skura is the guiltiest party as to why those 2 things were happening.

Hell we still see issues with lamar because of skura, times where lamar is just unable to step into a throw because skura is bulled right into lamar.

There is no question Lamar makes everyone better on the line due to the d having to put more resources on LJ.

Absolutely and that’s what makes skura appear anything close to serviceable, but even on the straight drops(the few times we call them) he’s often getting bulled badly. If joe was starting this whole time skura would be public enemy #1 in Baltimore lol

It also hasn’t helped having Alex Lewis and more recently Hurst playing right next to them

Although I watch the coaches film, I trust Ken McKusicks breakdowns of the line due to how much he goes over each play, every week.

Hell, Ozzie drafted Orlando Brown Jr. and didn't play him at first anyways in favor of James fucking Hurst

This was a big error in judgment by Harbaugh, particularly since it was possible to put Hurst back at LG where he had played the year before. If I had to guess, it was a matter of loyalty to veterans, but if you look at what I wrote throughout the preseason, I thought Brown would be the starting RT for the opener.

In a way the game Lewis had in P4 may have sealed the fate of Brown, because it left JH with no option to bench an underperforming or injured veteran lineman to make room for Brown at RT.

This is really good news, per PFF regarding Bozeman vs Hurst

The Ravens rotated between James Hurst and Bradley Bozemanat left guard, and while they got quality contributions from both, the rookie from Alabama outperformed his veteran colleague on this occasion. Bozeman gave up nothing in pass protection and created consistent movement and creases both inline and on the move in his most extensive action since Week 7.

Maybe Hurst will get benched for Bozeman. It is strange we rotated them because you don’t do that with OL unless you’re considering a replacement or injury. I’d be good with Bozeman at LG.

I think that would be great and I was pounding the table for Bozeman a round before he was drafted. Think he is going to be a good find. Not a high ceiling by any means, but just a very good fit, with the ability to play center as well.

I remember noticing Bozeman early in the game. Thanks for sharing.

I really hate the “not a high ceiling” etc talk. That means nothing. I bet no one thought Tom Brady had a high ceiling. Or Antonio Brown. It’s all an opinion. Means nothing.

It’s an opinion based on watching tape of him. Absolutely may not be correct, but I, stating my opinion as you said.

Im now very interested in what ken says in his OL writeup because Hurst still played 73% of the snaps and i think bozeman had about 7 snaps as the 6th OL...

but that still means 21 snaps at guard - will be interesting to see if Hurst is on the injury report this week...

And I have no problem with your opinion. It’s probably not wrong. But you’re stating it more like its a hard fact. Kind of like when you said “the chiefs won’t and will never win the Super Bowl”

Honestly i think if you just said “I think boseman has a low ceiling” it wouldn’t bother me at all. See what I mean?

I didn’t mean it to come out that way and I shouldn’t have said it that way with the Chiefs either, but believe that would have a better chance if they had a better defense, obviously.

I'll take Bozeman over Hurst any day. He's stout and gets movement on the line, which is a lot more than I can say about Hurst.
