Barry Jenkins thoughts on spiderverse are interesting:

"No lie, the moment the credits rolled a kid in front of me (4/5 years old) turned to his dad and said aloud “Can we watch it again?!” And I understood the feeling, this is one of the few screeners I’ll be taking with me over the holiday, gotta see it again"

i had such a similar feeling - i realised towards the end of the film that we were getting towards the climax of the film and therefore the end and i was disappointed because i really didnt want to say goodbye to the characters
and i didnt want the characters to say goodbye to each other either
and as soon as it was over i desperately wanted to see it again

and im stuck with family this xmas but im constantly listening to the spiderverse soundtrack trying to relive some of the awesome moments in it

Hall of Famer
My definitive top 10 movies of the year
  1. Mission impossible 6.... yeah this and Mad Max fury road are probably the two best action movies of the decade for me
  2. A simple favor. Very Gone Girl esq but that’s a good thing.... plus Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick make out..... that almost took it to #1 all by itself. Otherwise, solid mystery, good story, likable and interesting characters.
  3. The Incredibles 2. Yup. Just as good as the first even if Screenslaver is a tad underwhelming
  4. Ant Man and the Wasp. Prob my favorite MCU movie since Winter Soldier. It’s funny in all the best ways, smart, and the fact that it really doesn’t have a true villain is a nice touch.
  5. Deadpool 2. Yup. I know a lot of you didn’t care for it. Merry think it was as good as the first. If you disagree that’s your problem, it’s my list.
  6. Infinity War: overrated as all hell. Most overhyped movie of all time.... still a good movie
  7. Creed II. Predictable but all the actors are so good that I really don’t care.
  8. Aquaman: tbh this movie is actually pretty good but the inclusion of a Pitbull cover of Toto’s Africa almost made me walk out of the film entirely.
  9. Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. It was good...... it wasn’t drop dead amazing like I was told it was going to be but it had its moments of gold.
  10. A Quiet Place: This movie was amazing until the final 10 minutes. It would’ve been an easy top 5 finish but the ending frankly insulted my intelligence.

I’ll do a top 10 of films I’ve seen that were released this year - there’s a few films I know would make it on this list but I haven’t got round to watching them (you were never really here, eighth grade, annihilation, blindspotting, a quiet place) - there’s a film I really want to put on the end of the list but I’m not sure if there will be space...

  1. Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse
  2. Widows
  3. Mission Impossible: Fallout
  4. The Death of Stalin
  5. Sorry to Bother You
  6. A Star is Born
  7. Ladybird (came out in 2018 in the UK)
  8. Ant-man and the Wasp
  9. Black KKKlansman
  10. Maze Runner: Death Cure (lol)

The most overhyped movie of all time was definitely black panther

I hate how you have to reserve seats in advance. You have to get seats at least a day or two in advance if you want good seats. You can't decide you want to see a movie the day of anymore.

Haha - here it depends on the movie but only very few are ever completely booked and except a few cases you can always book the day of or the night before normally
I guess it does depend on the timing and what movie you're going to. I don't usually look at the showtimes for the theaters with reserved seating because it annoys me and we have one of those old movie theaters that doesn't have reserved seating. Only problem is that it's not showing Aquaman, which we were going to take my uncle to see. He works weird days where he has off Mondays and Tuesdays, so this is the only time it works for my brother before he has to go back to school. And my uncle can't make up his mind about when he wants to see it, despite us trying to coordinate this a week ago.

I'm a bit irritated right now.

Tl;dr I try to avoid the reserved seats, so I don't know how often things fill up and how the timing of when the movie was released affects it. I've never had too much luck looking on the day of.

Of course as I say this, we find seats for the IMAX.
