I just hope we get someone that can help design passing plays. Roman can come up with good ideas for helping a QB like Lamar, but his passing offenses haven't been super impressive elsewhere. We had a good idea the last couple years of essentially combining two offensive minds to make a proper OC. It's just that Marty calling the plays was crap.

I mean when your QBs are Kaepernick and Tyrod your passing offenses aren’t going to be very good...I don’t understand why people don’t get that

im not sure whether it's play design or play calling tendencies necessarily - his passing offences have been statistically bad in terms of pure yards - but for context they've also been at the bottom of the league in terms of attempts

that being said we are very much still looking for 2 skill position coaches to fill the wr and rb coach spots anyway

The 49ers play calling system under Harbaugh, Roman and i think it was Chryst was idiotic. Such a system isn't sustainable.
Taylor is a great guy but limited as a passer, do you really expect Roman to throw it 40 times?
I'd have prefered another OC though.

Oh sweet merciful god for Kaepernick. I went to look at his highlights post the super bowl and my god, if people think Lamar is not refined as a passer, go look at that. Just the mechincs there alone are bad and the majority of highlights are of his rushing. Only reason that offense was remotely sustainable was the sheer amount of talent on those niners teams. Gore, Davis, an elite oline, good Crabtree, and Boldin. I'd argue the playcalling was even MORE limited than what we had towards the end of the season.

Looking at the playcalling in Buffalo, it wasn't good, but it was clearly a scapegoat firing. Even then the oline in Buffalo was really good and they did have Lesean McCoy. I don't think Tyrod was a bad QB, but that supporting cast in Buffalo wasn't exactly terrible. We are going to need to slowly accumulate more weapons, but that's obvious.

Something I did notice under Roman. He has schemed people open and he wasn't afraid to go deep.

I think we should be fine

Yeah, I used to call him crappernick for a reason.

All I’m saying is, like wink, lets just let it play out. Lets see how things play out before saying “since romans the OC we need a passing game coordinator because he’s only good at running the ball”.

Let the man freaking coach.

Actually, looking back on it, Jimmy Harbs forced Roman to have a passing game coordinator and that might've been his ultimate downfall. Too many cooks, one kitchen.

But....

Since Roman's the OC we need a passing game coordinator because he's only good at running the ball.

Completely agree. Actually let’s just fire him now

People who think lamar can’t make it to a super bowl need to seriously watch kaepernick again. Kaepernick is legitimately one of the worst QBs I have ever seen start long term, he’s like dan orlovsky, Brock osweilwer, fucking Kyle boller levels of trash. People call lamar a black Tebow but kaepernick actually has the same exact disgusting mechanics as Tebow, maybe worse actually, on lamars WORST day at least his throwing motion can be completed without needing a fucking 6yard radius of clean pocket lol, on his WORST day at least he can throw a touch pass rather than try to gun it through a defenders chest as if that’s actually possible. Lamar Jackson is head and shoulders, without question superior to kaepernick in every single way.

Interesting...didn't realize Roman was responsible for developing the Read Option with Kap, but then I did recognize it.

If anybody really believes Baltimore Brady is a better passer than Tyrod Taylor, can you tell us where we can get some of what you're having???

Since it’s only a matter of time before we all start calling for his head I figured it’s best we all discuss Roman here.

He is integral in Lamar’s development.

Below is an article from the Baltimore Sun that should give us a good template as to what to expect.

Dude you’re the only person who thinks Kaepernick was good. I hate that you actually believe that. It’s sad.

Where's Film Study on this one?

Actually, its less about Film than statistics. There's a whole lot of parallels between Kaps 2012 and Baltimore Brady's 2018. Both came in mid season due to the starting QB's injury and the starting QB was never heard of again.

When one looks into the Stats for those respective years, its almost the same player. Excepting the fact that Kap would have won a Super Bowl had Roman called Runs and that Baltimore Brady looked like a Fish Outta Water until the Chargers went Prevent. Oh and the fact that Kap was superior is almost every statistical category, especially overall QB rate. Kap surprised the league with that Read Option and so did Baltimore Brady. Kap was a dangerous QB for a while there and as the 49ers lost talent, Kap took much of the blame. If one takes Kap's kneeling during the anthem out of the equation, don't see how anyone can credibly suggest that Baltimore Brady has a greater skill set.

haha. Kaep wasn't a good passer, but he wasn't as bad as those other guys. Lamar still has a ways to go before being called a good qb. btw: this is LJ's accuracy chart college vs NFL.

I dnt think he was good but yall tripping with all this “ worst qb ive ever seen”... i dnt understand. Comparing him to tebow? why people acting like flacco wasnt a bottom 5 qb these last few yrs. dont forget about lamar, he looked terrible also.. i like lamar and thinks he can correct his issues but im simply talking about this past season, kap didnt look as bad as lamar did
