2020 WR Draft Thread

Devin Duvernay out of Texas is a guy that I heard about only through those Fanspeak Mock Draft games so I decided to watch a little bit of his film. From what I can tell he reminds me a little bit of Steve Smith Sr., which is a big comp I know and I'm not saying he is anywhere near that level, but they have a lot of similar traits. Both guys are on the shorter end but are very thicc and play more like RBs when they have the ball than they do WRs, and they are both tough and will try to come down with the contested catches, which is very difficult at their respective heights. They also both have some experience returning kicks in college, which is a big bonus for us because we are most likely letting Chris Moore walk and need a replacement. Looking at other scouts he is apparently also a fantastic blocker, so that's a brownie point in our system.

He finished the season with 106 catches, over 1300 yards, and 9 touchdowns, with his biggest game coming against a very good LSU defense where he had 12 catches for 154 yards and 2 TDs.

If we can get him with one of our 4th round picks I would be ecstatic, because he would potentially fill our hole at kick returner while giving us a fast player who can work out of the slot, which we desperately need given that Snead is pretty much our only guy there.

was just watching some of the senior bowl clips and duvernay was a guy who i saw that made me want to go and delve in the tape - he has super quick footwork and he's so sudden in short areas - will be interesting to see the tape when i get to him

What’s your take on laviska. There’s that 1 WR each year I hope we don’t draft. Perriman was one. I feel like laviska is the one for me this year. I don’t get the hype

Fully agree - just don’t see why anyone would think of him as a 1st rounder - don’t see anywhere close to enough separation on film and while he’s great with the ball in his hands I don’t think he’s an athletic freak to justify his stock being so high

........I wish there was a chance we could draft him
He’s going to be a major problem in the NFL because of what he can do with his speed and footwork and routes. I wish we could get him because I’d be more surprised if he busts than if he becomes an All Pro.

That sounds awesome to me. I haven’t done any work on him but if he is what you say then go for him in the 4th. At worst he’s a return specialist and at best he develops into a #1-3.

I didn’t feel that way about Metcalf but I absolutely felt that way about Hakeem Butler so many people liked.

I didnt like hakeem, harmon nor the guy from pats. I just didnt see dk a fit for us, plaus he had drop issues so i was kinda scared of him.. only guy i was crazy about was deebo.

I seen a few a vids last night on the reagor guy, from TCU. Dude looks like a better version of ross and for his height 5”11, he can go up and get the ball at the highest point.. unfortunately i think we may go after bigger wrs since we already someone like brown

Yeah I thought we might go the bigger WR route at first, but after more thought it seems like we're going after specialists rather than do-it-all guys. We use Andrews and Hurst in that bigger WR role because that's what they essentially are, and we use Brown to stretch the field to give them space. If I remember correctly, Harbaugh also said that we're going after two types of receivers, so I want to see what skill qualities we're going to go after.

I could absolutely see us going the speed route again, but I could also see us drafting Jefferson out of LSU.

Any thoughts on Garbriel Davis, UCF?

got a late 2nd/3rd round grade on him right now - not sure how quick he is which could make a massive difference to his stock (if he tests well)

massive catch radius, really physical, does enough to get separation with his route running although i wouldnt call it particularly nuanced lol but he understands and uses decent concepts to get himself open

have you seen any of Brian Edwards or AGG from Liberty. They are currently at the Sr. Bowl

I would be more than happy trading back a little and taking Jefferson. He is fast enough to make safeties respect him but he's also a really good route runner
