2020 Edge Draft Thread

Lewis I think is the guy with the highest upside in the whole class - could be TJ Watt-esque but the injuries and lack of production (for various reasons) could be a problem
Lewis is pretty good but those injuries do worry me. To me he’s another Carl Lawson who looked great but the injury history worries you. He’s also had his share of injuries at the NFL level as well, so it’s not totally unprecedented in that point either

Yetur Gross Matos is growing on me, I think he’s gonna be an elite run defender rather quickly, and with his natural tools needing some refinement he could develop into a dangerous 3 down edge guy. I think he’s risky, because he does have a lot of work to do as a pass rusher, but the tools are there and he’s already a linewrecking force once he spots the ball. Those hands and some patience in the rush are all he needs.

Kenny willekes I’m sold on, he just looks the part of an nfl rusher, I hate to say that, but it’s the right description for me, I’ve given breakdowns on him but now I’m just saying he looks the part, some guys do and some don’t.

also josh uche is about to get a heavy film sesh from me, after those senior bowl practices I’m intrigued, I liked his speed rush before but he showed spectacular bend in those practices.

I agree on Gross-Matos. The guy looks like a legit talent and I think he will make a day 1 impact wherever he goes. He just can flat out play ball to me. I would trade up to get the guy if he’s in range.
He'll go top 20
Agreed. I think we’d have to trade up to get him. He could go top-15.

Agreed, he would be one of the top picks for me atm. Not too many guys I could put above him with our needs and what he can do.

Kj hamler is my guy too lol, I think he can be had after a trade back and I would love to see it, he’s a dream fit here and at a great value.

id not come across him before until the senior bowl - and i have to say he was incredibly underwhelming - saw a lot of people talking him up and nothing i saw in the clips of practices from the first 2 days (and the full practice yesterday) made me intrigued but seeing those numbers ive added him to the list of guys i need to watch
mid round guy with real upside I think

I found this guy named Andre Walker out of Houston Baptist. Unfortunately there's only his own highlight tape, but he can fly. Undersized but I think he'd be a nice 6/7th round pick up.

Well ive finally got round to jonathan greenard film and im a big fan so far - might be the best technically of all the rushers ive watched in this class (tbf not a very refined class overall) - but from what im seeing so far, if he tests well at the combine he could go flying up draft boards

EDIT: more tape is just confirming how i feel about him - and ive seen a pass rush move that im not sure ive seen from any prospect ive ever watched - a fake spin move that baited the tackle and opened up the outside pass rush (vs tennessee in the 3rd quarter) - really technical pass rusher with a nice get off and burst who threatens both inside and outside uses his hands well and counters well also - he uses his spin move a lot to reset but id like to see him be more violent and actually get into the tackle when he spins - at the moment its more of a finesse type pass rush move with not enough physicality behind it

only real consistent negatives ive come across is that in pursuit he often jogs or stops when the play is away from him and he doesnt look particularly natural when he is dropped into coverage - often just find him standing still in a spot - might be my favourite pass rusher in the class though - he's just so active

So the only game Greenard didnt take over at times as a pass rusher was the Georgia game where he was up against a likely top 10 pick in Andrew Thomas... Like am i crazy for thinking Greenard should be at least in the conversation with those later 1st round edge guys?
No, you're not - he is good. Lamar's team mate, too

Went back to the Curtis Weaver tape to double check what i saw from him - and im still not sure i understand the hype around him - like there's nothing he has in his tool box that excites me at all - just feels very average tbh

ive had the chance to watch the washington tape and if anything his grade has gone down not up

i just dont see what some of you are seeing...

im watching trevon hill tape - which is unspectacular in the passing game but i like him as an edge against the run so far - but ive had to take a break because for about the 10th snap so far ive seen 3+ OL on the ground having attempted (and failed) cut blocks and ive got so angry at the coaching that ive had to pause - and ive had to look up that OL coach and found he was in the job 1 year and has already departed florida state (is now OL coach at Ole Miss) - it is absolutely ridiculous what's going on there - doesnt matter how bad your OL talent is, the calls they are making/techniques they are teaching are absolute trash - ive literally got my screen paused on a shot with all 5 OL on the floor, and all 4 pass rushers in the backfield - and its like the 10th time ive seen it so far on this tape
