SuperBowl Discussion Thread (Other Teams)

In the 54 history of the Super Bowl, 30 Quarterbacks have been named Super Bowl MVP. That's 55%, over half of the time a QB has won the award leaving 24 times it has gone to a non QB at 44%. 8 of the last 11 Super Bowl MVPs have been Quarterback.
Considering how the game is played, of course QB will have a best shot at it but before today's game, last 6 SBs it was 50-50

Just wondering on your coverage if every time the Niners kicked or punted that Joe would go on about him being from Australia? Or did they just drop that in the Australian broadcast? It was annoying af

who goes that far back to look for 1 play that might make the difference in a superbowl - the fact that Bieniemy has never been seriously considered for a HC job is outrageous - was outrageous before but how stupid are franchises going to be not to give this guy a HC job (or at least a serious chance at a HC job)

My favorite play call of the whole game. Also Damien Williams should have been MVP.

Both interference calls seemed obvious to me especially the DPI (if either of those calls weren't made to a team playing the Ravens we would be screaming robbery).

Yup. The DPI call was right. There was clear contact with ball in the air. Had the defender turned his head toward the ball the call would not have been made.

Mahomess def deserved mvp. The play on 3rd and 15, those hits he was willing to take for the team and his scrambling got them back in game.. not to mentioned how he fooled jimmie ward with his eyes on the pass where sherman got beat.. i felt like they saved that tbh.

There was a HUGE hold on Nick Bosa for that play.

Also, Reid got win 222 on 02/02/2020.

Anyone think Damien Williams got robbed of mvp? Mahomes was kinda dogshit til the 4th and Williams made plays all night and made the big game changing TDs.

and ftr I’m a mahomes fan, I don’t hate on this guy in the slightest. Just my opinion. Feels obligatory, like when Brady got mvp over Edelman in the Seahawks SB
Pretty weak MVP performance, he wasn’t very good.

Mahomes is the poster boy of this new regime QB. To see him win the MVP over Williams (who absolutely balled out) was to be expected! Football politics at its best!

Id give it to hill or even chris jones before willims. It might be the wrong way to look at things but i feel like williams couldve been replaced with every nfl starting rb in nfl and the outcome wouldve been the same. That last td, game was basically over when he scored and on his rec td, he didnt really do much at all.

Lol you missed some shit then. Williams had a handful of plays where he was dead to rights at the LOS out in the flat and he somehow made a first down out of it with an insane cut, he did that exact thing at least 3 times that I can remember, for 3 quarters he was the only thing working in the KC offense as he was churning out 5+ YPC and doing it fairly often, everytime the chiefs got away from the run they stalled. And he scored the game winning TD again in a less than favorable situation, making an over the shoulder catch in stride with a defender only a few yards away and reaching over the pylon with contact. And that direct snap TD was no joke, he really powered through a lot of contact for it and a lot of twist and turning was needed, huge solo effort.

Chris Jones had a batted ball from what I can recall and not much else, I could be wrong though, and hill had the catch that sparked the comeback, but he didn’t do much else otherwise, few solid but unspectacular plays.

Damien Williams I thought was pretty clearly the mvp and I couldn’t make an argument for literally anyone else

Really happy for Andy Reid, he’s one of the Good Guys. He and his family have been through hell and I’m not sure how he’s stayed focused and at the top of his profession.

Williams played great but im trying to say you can replace him with anyother starting rb in nfl. Basically,Kc wouldve won that game if they replaced him with any starting rb imo.. jones was a monster.. had like 2-3 batted balls. I think he causes the int to breeland. Got free and was disruptive but ofcourse them boys too fast.

I just feel like williams play couldve been replicated by any rb. The numbers look good but there wasnt really nothing that stood out to me other than that spin he did on sideline.. that shit was nice

They legit came from behind in all 3 playoff games... very very impressive

Two of which, the only reason they came back was inept coaching by BOB and Shanahan last night. Give Belichick a 24-0 lead in the first quarter and he doesn't blow it like BOB. It's still impressive but inept coaching played a big part in it.

Shanahan is Dean Pees of the Offensive side of the ball.

I just disagree that any back could’ve replicated it, he made some really great solo effort plays. He was just a cut above the rest of the field all night long

in which case the winning qb should get the MVP award before the game even starts if you talk about the MVP in terms of replacement then of course the qb always wins the award no matter how well or badly they play...

they should really re-brand the Superbowl MVP as a man of the match type award like they have in football (non-american version lol)

Please stop it. He didn't use his timeouts before haltime correctly , but it wasn't his fault Jimmy G didn't see a wide open Kittle or missed their WR when they took a endzone shot.
