They haven't officially been installed yet I don't believe, but here's a pretty good estimate:

First date tags can be assigned is February 25th, so I would imagine they'd announce the official NFL salary cap and tag $ at least a few days before that.

The "range" given for 2020 salary cap is between $196.8 and $201.2M. Spotrac has been using $199M as its base assumption, while Overthecap has been using a flat $200M.

Here’s an annoying thought... all this talk of needing edge rushers, but we had an mvp caliber edge rusher on this team last year and let him walk for what now looks like chump change and not a damn one of us expected it. There’s also John Simon who has become quite a solid edge guy and he’s playing for peanuts, and he was released almost immediately while we let guys like Arthur brown and Courtney upshaw stick around for ages.

here comes blasphemy... I’m starting to really feel some resentment towards Ozzie for what he did to this team from 09-2015. We won a chip in that stretch but it was mostly due to Ozzie’s old days, once he had to replace what he had gotten from the old days, he failed terribly. I mean god damn when I look back at our drafts I am shocked that we were able to maintain a .500 record from 13-18

Ozzie was an utterly shit drafter during that period you mention. No doubt about it.

its almost like he got better after some self-assessment
i really think that the philosophy of the league changed in the middle of that time period as well - the way teams played offence and defence was changing which changed what you look for in prospects and ozzie didnt adapt quickly enough

but you're right that we havent been good at evaluating edge guys recently - that being said ZDS never looked like he did this year for us

People all the time, it was some seasons that werent even suppose to win 6 games. By the way, do you think ozzie was responsible for the 2018 draft? I know media gave him all the praise but im guessing decosta had more to do with it than people think

One of the worst. He was browns level bad. He did very very well with FA up until the pitta resigning, it seems like that one bad signing just brought on a shit storm of bad luck as well, after that signing the ray rice thing happened, ngata disappeared, Eugene Monroe was extended and promptly shit on us, Flacco’s knee. It’s nice to be in the good old days again lol.

He did seem to adapt a bit, especially when he started prioritizing secondary to an extent that nobody else in the league has, and it’s become a trend ever since. The emphasis on run stuffers really got annoying, Courtney upshaw is a pick I still can’t wrap my goddamn brain around.

I have said for a long time now that Eric was likely the one most responsible for 18. It was Eric’s team, and Eric wanted to set himself up, it was probably a group effort but Eric was the engineer

you're right about EDC - but probably not just 2018 - it was said for a few years that he'd been running the draft and that may have been part of the self-assessment that EDC's emphasis on analytics and updating methods etc. was a boon for our draft room

it also doesnt help that the 2013 and 2015 draft classes overall were pretty bad for lots of teams
but we wasted a lot of day 2 picks in that period between the superbowl win and the 2018 class

Last I tried to do one it was really annoying and I stopped halfway through, and that was the 2nd time that had happened lol. This draft annoys me because there are so many directions we should be able to go, but I try so hard to address everything and we just don’t have the picks for it and it frustrates the hell out of me lol

i think im gonna focus on getting all the position groups done to a decent level then actually start stacking my board and then ill probably start doing mock drafts (hopefully ill be ready with the big board by the combine)

ive still got lots of work to do on the LBs and then all the DBs and TEs (which im not looking forward to lol - feels like a chore given our roster)

All we need from this class in terms of DBs and TEs is Lamar Jackson.
