Source? I don't feel like looking all over twitter.

it looks like something fairly offhanded jamison hensley said in relation to the franchise tag deadline being moved - no actual words from in the building or insiders or anything just the beat guys expectations - basically looks like he and zrebiec (and probably some others) are getting the vibe that we'll be tagging judon but as far as i can tell nothing concrete yet

on tuesday EDC will be doing his combine presser - he'll be asked there and we might get a more solid answer then

Do you prefer if we keep him for another year or trade him immediately after he signed the tag?
Kinda hard to say tbh. If we could sign him for decent amount and pick up another rusher, that would be great.. i wouldnt trade Him without guarantees of another rusher

Please trade Judon. He’s not worth the money he wants.. something tells me though we have plans for a trade with a couple of teams who have a few second rounders. Someone on Reddit suggested trading Judon and 28 to the Colts for 13 though

What do you guys think of adding Damon "Snacks" Harrison to the mix on the defensive line?
I think he'll be a good run stuffer to replace Pierce. But, it'll depend on what he's demanding and how Daylon Mack is progressing as a replacement.

that's an outrageous suggestion about moving up 15 spots in the first round for Judon - if we could do that it would be wild - we could either parlay that into tons of picks in this draft by then trading back again or get a premier player

not sure why the colts would want judon though - especially as they might be in play for a QB at 13 if there's one they like

as for tag and trade i think that's going to be the FO's ideal scenario but for that to work as an option we have to be willing to keep him and play him under the franchise tag which would suggest we're not expecting to be particularly active in free agency certainly with regards to top tier or even 2nd tier type free agents at premier positions

i expect we'll do the bulk of our business in free agency after the initial frenzy is over with

According to Zrebiec, we're still trying to get a bunch of lower level players re-signed before FA. Tweet below specifically refers to Pernell McPhee, Anthony Levine, Justin Ellis, and Jihad Ward.

Assuming Judon gets the tag, that's leaves us with 10 UFAs outside of those mentioned above: Josh Bynes, Hroniss Grasu, Chris Moore, Patrick Onwuasor, Domato Peko, Michael Pierce, Seth Roberts, Jimmy Smith, De'Anthony Thomas, Brynden Trawick

Would imagine Bynes could be a fallback option and I'd be surprised if we weren't working to retain Jimmy as well. The rest I assume would walk, and even if they did come back, I don't think any would be a priority. If DeCosta could pull off the 4 mentioned specifically and Jimmy, that'd be one hell a job re-signing our own.

there's not got to be a huge rush to sign most of those guys which is useful - and there's certainly an incentive for some of them to sign back with us because they may find themselves forgotten once free agency hits

of those 4, jihad ward has to be the priority - he was such a big addition but i wonder if his age and draft pedigree makes him want to hit free agency to try and get a better deal - of the 4 he's the most likely to have interest from other teams

mcphee would be a nice re-add to the team but this time you hope there's some players to keep him off the field so that he isnt playing as many snaps a game as 2019

I think this just feels different because these are usually the guys that get to FA and re-sign a month or two after the market opens. It's just weird having a GM that is much more aggressive and knows what he wants. Even at the minimum, the Andre Smith and Jordan Richards signings were a bit out of the ordinary for us. If they keep that rolling with more back end of the roster depth... it's just interesting.
