Clowney wants 23-25mil annually I bet. We backloaded Brockers contract. And Stanley and Humphrey are up next. I can’t see how we can afford him.
He can want that all he wants... I see no chance he gets it. Best case for him, I think, is he lands in the DeForest Buckner range.

The problem with the eye test is that most people's eyes lie to them, and most people don't know what they're looking at when they use their eyes.

I think this would be the case here.

you think hes a top 5 CB , I don't. Marcus Peters is a better corner than him. He's more fluid etc. Marlon needs to really improve his ball skills and stop getting beat on big chunk plays before I'll entertain top 5 CB talk.

I'm not interested in whether you'll "entertain" the talk or not. That talk doesn't require your permission or even your acknowledgment.

I think Peters is a very good player, but I think he risks way too much, as you said, frequently gets beat easily in coverage when he's wrong.

I also generally don't value players that highly who play on 3 teams in 6 years before their 27th birthday, especially at a position that's getting more difficult to find and a position that NFL teams are valuing more and more each year. Great players in this league tend to not bounce around nearly that frequently.

I guess Aqib Talib was never great then in your eyes?

I doubt he even lands in that league tbh. I think he'll sign for between 18-20MM/yr. I don't think there are too many takers and with his injury history, he needs a thorough physical even before being offered anything. If he was so coveted he would've been made an offer at least by the Giants pending a physical don't you think?

Peters is a better ball hawk than Humphrey, but he's not the better overall CB than Peters.

if he does end up signing for 18m range, it will definitely push Judon's number closer to our range.

I don't think Peters is better than Humphrey. They're different and have different strengths. There's a common theme to @Sami84 when it comes to CBs and it's this: ballhawks. I will say that Peters and Humphrey have opposite strengths, so there's that. I think they complement each other well.

The common theme with Sami and corners is that they have to be absolutely perfect and never slip up in the slightest, along with every other position

the theme for sami and ELITE corner money is the following

1- need ball skills
2- Wins one on one chunk plays consistently
3- Avoids penalties and times hands to perfection

To be a good corner like humphrey you just need to be more good than bad in this league.
He's a good corner
he is absolutley not elite, now enough!

Humphrey is a very good corner and played out of position most of the year. He does what is necessary and doesn't complain. Last year he played boundary corner and was one of the top rated corners. He also scored 4 TD's this year.

There is more than just mirroring a man and playing the ball, you have a preference and that’s fine, but just say that it’s not your preference, don’t say Humphrey objectively isn’t an elite corner because it’s not true, he is certainly an elite corner but his skill set isn’t your preference, however I love a corner who has elite mirror skills, elite press, elite awareness to break off and pick up, and could dead ass play LB in the NFL because he’s so great at diagnosing the traffic in front of him and making a play on the ball carrier. Yeah he doesn’t have great ball skills but the times that he even has to use ball skill are few and far between
