Signings, Cuts, Trades

Peters and Thomas are basically the only two players on the roster who I can see actually get a restructure, where they'd convert salary into bonus and get some cap savings.

The only other player who you could potentially do it on is Brandon Williams, though he only has one year left after this year, so you really wouldn't save that much, and you'd just be ballooning his cap hit in 2021 to a level where you may not be able to realistically move on from him either.

There's nobody else on the roster with a contract that I see that would really do anything in terms of a restructure. Anything else would likely require an extension, ala Sam Koch.

Ricard was also mentioned as a possibility to save $1.75M if I remember correctly. Not a huge strain on future cap but opens up a little bit.

Pierce is better than B Will. Sorry, but if we had to choose between the two no one would choose b will over pierce.

b will does nothing better than pierce. hes basically a lesser version of pierce.
Initially Williams' contract wasn't that bad, but we had to restructre his contract twice and this turned this contract into a really bad one.
IIRC only the titans were interested in signing him, in the end I'm sure we bid against ourselves.

Ideally i'd have kept pierce and got rid of B will

Consider brockers an upgrade over wormley.

Pierce
Brockers
Campbell

looks much better. People forget how elite Pierce has been for us and his ''down year'' was still better than what B will has done for the most part
In a perfect scenario I also would have kept Pierce over B Will, but due to cap considerations we couldn't have done that. Pierce was an UFA and we only saved 4.25m by cutting BWill.

No, you can only be traded once you actually have signed the tag.
So why the hell hasn't he signed it yet?

Oh agreed. It's not much, but as you said, it does support a mid-level signing and maybe 1 or 2 lower level types. Would anticipate a couple more restructures.
have to have a couple more restructures if we want to sign the rookie pool.

Hated that contract soon as it happened..
I would have been fine if it was a few years at 10m per season and not 5 seasons. Other lineman like Snacks also signed for the same amount that season. I also believe EDC doesn't want contracts like that and realized they made a mistake.

If we are truly listening to trade offers on Judon, then here’s an easy reason why he (Judon) hasn’t signed yet:

1.) We must first come to terms with the team negotiating to trade for Judon
2.) Once we’ve come to terms with that team, then it is likely the team wants to talk with Judon’s agent and negotiate an extension
3.) Once both teams have agreed on compensation and the other team negotiated a long term deal then Judon will likely sign and get traded.

A team could trade for him without caring about a long term deal but I the reason I gave is why I assume Judon hasn’t signed.

I will say, we aren't operating as a team that has its sights on trading Judon. If we thought there was a good chance that we were getting that $16M off the books, I don't think we'd be doing some of these even minor restructures unless we were forced to do so.

The thing that surprises me right now is how quiet the talk has been on Jimmy Smith. Personally,I thought he would be drawing a lot more interest.

DB market in general hasn't really been there outside of a few guys, it seems.

he's 32 and not got the best injury history. He'll be back here because no one else will want him for anything less than just above the vet min.

Coronavirus is one thing that limits a couple of FAs out there. Teams can't conduct physicals. Jimmy has had a couple of injuries and teams might want to check his health to know what they want to offer him.

Plus it gives Judon veto power over the trade if it is a team he does not want to play for.

9News Denver's Mike Klis reports Joe Flacco (neck) is expected to be ready for the 2020 season.
Flacco didn't require surgery on the neck injury that ended his 2019. The Broncos waived him with a failed physical, but the expectation is he'll be healthy for the start of next season. SiriusXM's Adam Caplan adds there's "interest from other teams" to sign Flacco as a backup. 35-year-old Flacco should resurface if he gains medical clearance.

Flacco should just retire and chill with his 100 kids and the hundreds of millions of dollars he made because of 4 games.
