If we have an epic draft we have a chance but we've put ourselves in a situation where this draft will define our success next year BY a long margin. If eric does stupid things like kenneth murray, it's over.

we're still weak in the slot if tavon goes down because while marlon's an all-pro he's not the most natural slot corner but he would be the first choice to play there if tavon did get an injury

if a slot corner like amik robertson, darnay holmes or josiah scott were somehow available in the 4th round that would be a great get and they get to compete with iman marshall and anthony averett for a spot - my guess is averett's the most on the bubble CB because he's further into his career than marshall and marshall also adds more value on special teams i think
I’d love to see robertson or Holmes in Baltimore in the third or fourth.

I don't think Brockers improves our pass rush much at all. We're putting a lot of pressure on a 34 year old Campbell to basically be the difference.
I still feel my idea of Hargraves, lawson and Billings > then what has been done
Brockers and Campbell will be a better pass rushing duo than Michael pierce, Brandon Williams, and Chris wormley as a trio. My god can you stop lol. We went 14-2 and broke records and had the leagues best record, and our weakest spot(interior DL) was improved massively whether you like it or not, and for the most part we kept the band together for the long term everywhere else.

so far the only net loss is the OL because of yanda retiring, which decosta has no bearing on btw. All this was done while also accumulating quality draft picks and with very little cap space. Holy shit man. Take a chill pill

this is before the draft happens...
we also would not be able to afford hargraves, lawson and billings without losing judon...

and there was a stat going around today that brockers had more pressures than pierce, williams and wormley combined in 2019... so while he's not a threat he's more of a threat than anything we had last year on the DL

dude i dont get it - at this point the only 2 positions we are demonstrably worse than last year are LB where the only notable loss is josh bynes (and he might be coming back anyway), EDGE where the only notable loss is pernell mcphee (who might be coming back anyway too - but also missed half the season) and IOL because of Marshal Yanda retiring and Skura's knee injury (although good news that he's already lifting weights and putting pressure on the knee)

that's 3 positions where we might get back to at least close to even before the draft even happens

when the draft hits the biggest needs we'll have are IOL, LB, EDGE and WR - we have 5 picks in the first 2 days - and even if we dont hit all 4 of those positions, literally no team in the league can plug every hole

we would like to be younger but the only way you get younger is with draft picks...

Let me do the draft and I'll nail the first 3 rounds. I'll let eric do the rest. that way we wont be left frustrated by what we left on the board.

I mentioned it back when it was still only a possibility, but I could absolutely see scenarios where you have all 4 of the top CBs on the field at the same time. Would guess that Smith, Humphrey, and Young (less so Peters) will all get that "cross-training" at S in order to fill the Brandon Carr role from last year so Chuck Clark can play at ILB more often.

DeShon Elliott is back and could be part of the slot rotation.
Im not sure if our roster got better in FA
C and RG
Edge
Lb
Dynamic pass rushing iDL
WR haven't been fixed.

To be fair, I don't think you were ever going to improve at several of those positions.

Interior OL was weak and you're not improving from Yanda anyways
Could have improved at Edge but it's costing major $$$
WR was a weak FA class but a super strong draft class so no qualms here

Would have liked to have seen us do a little more at ILB, but Bynes and Peanut remain possibilities.

DL as a whole improved, but yeah, it would be nice to have a true 1-gapping 3T in the fold. Still think that's a strong possibility in the draft.

we've used free agency to make sure we've not got demonstrably worse at most of those spots except IOL - the aim of the ravens pre-draft throughout its history has been to plug as many holes as possible so that we can just take the best player on our board come draft time and i think we're in a pretty good position to do that except at IOL where we need to make sure we grab one somewhere on day 1 or 2

but LB the only major loss is Bynes
EDGE the only major loss is Mcphee

both those positions need improvement but are not much worse off than they were during that 14-2 season

IDL we are absolutely majorly improved with Campbell but Brockers is also more of a threat than pierce, williams and wormley albeit i wouldnt describe him as a pass rushing DL - but Campbell I would... but no harm in getting young talent at the position if 1 of the 4/5 tier 2 DL fall to the 55 or 60th pick

WR this draft is so deep - maybe not at our picks in round 2 unless someone unexpected starts to fall but certainly there will be opportunities in round 1 and all through round 3 to grab a WR or 2 - the WR draft class is much deeper than the free agency class which is probably why it took sanders so long to get signed (and seemingly at a discount) and robby anderson is still unsigned with little buzz

so with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds (and then another 2 in round 4) i feel pretty good about the trajectory of this roster - and dont forget a udfa has made this roster every year for... how many years?

there are holes to fill but IOL is the only major one - EDGE probably the second biggest with the devaluation of LBs in general but we were never going to be able to fix EDGE in free agency

also side note but I love deshon elliott in the one game where he played last year - it's one thing to dominate in preseason but he took his opportunity and looked awesome - was borderline tragic that he got injured in that game - ironically on a play that showed off his great range as a deep safety covering for justin bethel who was only on the field because we had corners dropping like flies - and elliott ironically gets dinged up by bethel

Re Wormley DeCosta said it was a combination of getting draft picks for the next draft, more cap space and that they are planning to go a different direction on the DL in the future.

You know most of us are crestfallen because Marshall Yanda retired after 13 yrs! Imagine the state of the Cowboys fans today as Travis Frederick retired at age 29 in his prime too! I can't wait to see the commentary in the Jones' household right now because Dad Prescott will get eaten from the inside!

Oh by the way, Ruiz will be the Cowboys first pick.

I cannot wait for Tavon Young to be back in this defence - he's missed so much time that it's easy to forget how good he is

overstatement. I thought he was pretty average after he came back from his first injury. He's an okay player when he's healthy. Hardly anything wow and with all the crap his body has gone through without even playing i'd curb your enthusiasm
