I'm convinced the Redskins are staying put at number 2, now that this tweet came out

i mean tbf if they arent in love with chase young vs simmons or brown or okudah or even a tackle for their young qb if trent williams isnt going to play for them then trading back makes a ton of sense to either 5 or 6 and probably pick up an extra 1st rounder in the process (either this year with the dolphins or next year with the chargers)

oh, I didn't say it didn't make sense, but if JLC says one thing, it's basically going to be the other. BTW, I'd pick Chase and call it a day.

NFL Owners approve 14 Team Playoff.... CBS & NBC to broadcast additional wild card games.

Report: According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins at "some point" will try to make a trade for the number one pick and Joe Burrow.

Now a lot of this is just media gossipping and such, but the Bengals did coach Justin Herbert at the Senior Bowl where he was the MVP, which they may be putting two & two together but it would be interesting to see how much Miami values Joe Burrow over Tua or Herbert.

Since they are an AFC North rival, just curious, how do you all feel about the Bengals selecting Burrow? Or would you rather them to stay put, so they don’t acquire all those picks?

1) If they select him, they select him. Our division is going to be a bunch of young kids.... and old man Ben. So say offensive line help makes Baker better, Lamar does what he did last year and Joe shows some promise, I'd say we'll probably become the AFC version of the NFC East, primetime games every week.

2) The best part about trading back is not watching them pass on Burrow, but watching them Bungle all those draft picks into nothing.

All I know is if the Pats or Steelers end up with the number one pick next year and automatic 15+ years of Trevor Lawrence, I'm going to be calling for an investigation. Is the Patriots waiting 5+ years before landing their next QB too much to ask for?

Lawrence isn't all that.

So you have Justin Fields as the number one QB in 2021 I assume?
Fields beat Lawrence in Elite 11 camp and won the MVP. But remember there is always a QB going in the 1st who nobody thought of at the beginning of CFB and draft season.
2020 Burrow was regarded as 4-5th rounder
2019 Murray (difficult case), Haskins and Jones. Herbert was the consensus #1
2018 Mayfield
2017 Trubisky and Mahomes
2016 Wentz

Lol.....my wife (a diehard Steelers fan, a diehard Clemson fan, and a diehard Lawrence fan) actually won’t mind a Tank for Trevor campaign from her Steelers, but is having nightmares that Belichick will actually do it.

Neither Steelers nor NE are tanking a season for a QB.

exactly...

and while obviously the higher you go up to get a qb the better your odds are of finding a good one, the 2 most recent MVPs got drafted by teams in contention late in the previous year trading up to get their guy - both were not the first taken in their class (not even close)

its partly why i never really bought the miami tank as a strategy (also the fact that coaches and players are never going to purposefully tank if they want a job the next year)

the trick i guess is evaluating well lol and getting it right when you do go up to get a qb

but im looking through previous drafts and trying to find the last qb that a team tanked for who even made it to the playoffs (let alone went further than that) - maybe the Colts and Andrew Luck in 2012...

before that point we're getting into periods of time when i knew very little about the draft at all

but even then that's 8 seasons of football where a tanking team has not acquired a qb who has got to a playoff berth ever in their career (too early to tell on baker mayfield but not boding well for others)

and part of that is that not many teams actually tank... so there's not a huge sample size - not in the least because in 2 of the last 3 drafts the guy touted as the guy people were tanking for was not the first qb taken (scam for sam in 2017 and tank for tua in 2019 - im assuming burrow is going number 1)

so you're exactly right - and tbh i would not be surprised if NE take Jordan Love at 23 this year and see if they can't develop him
