This is great to hear. Wasn't paying attention to him much in that game. Him looking at Henry though face to face and whiffing really pissed me off. You have to think someone like Clowney makes that tackle. Maybe I'm being delusional. If Judon is here next season and many more seasons after that, I'll adjust. Not going to root against my players.

i think its important to remember with judon that when ZDS, mcphee and everyone put up their numbers they had Judon and suggs etc. to take attention and work as a platoon

yes judon had help with blitzes and numbers but he had very little pass rushing help across from him al year - how he does this year with all the new talent we've added to the front 7 will tell us a lot about how good he is

that's a great point - they werent thinking about 2021 in that game, they were thinking about the divisional round (as they should have) and powers wasnt going to be active because he's only cover at 2 spots whereas ehringer technically could do emergency cover at tackle (which he did in the steelers game when Orlando came out for a few snaps)

So do you think if anyone is going to lse their spot on the line it would be Bozeman? I agree that Powers will have first crack at RG. But we have 2 younglings that look promising. I don't think they take Bozemans job year 1 though.

I think the line will be Stanley, BB, Skura, Powers, Brown. And I don't anticipate any huge dropoff. Provided Skura is healthy he should be a small upgrade on Mekari, and Powers should not be an enormous dropoff of yanda. A dropoff yes, not one that kills us. With that being said we should also hope that with the added weapons and improvements from Lamar that OL will be just fine. I think defenses will have their hands full

i dont think bozeman loses his job necessarily - just thought it was interesting that Powers had a better game at that RG spot on debut than Bozeman did at LG

Skura is a bit of a wildcard for the whole OL - if he's ready to go and healthy that would be remarkable - if not the most obvious answer is for Mekari to continue at C but it might be better in the long run for Bozeman to take over at C

unsure though of what will happen - preseason (if it happens) is going to be very interesting

but if skura's healthy i think you're 100% right on what the starting OL will be going into the year - mekari and phillips would be the primary backups in this scenario because of their ability to cover all 5 spots on the OL between the 2 of them

i think there's a chance though that someone could unseat the presumptive starters - but the lack of an offseason and the potential reduction of training camp and preseason might make continuity king

ROGER GOODELLC, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

Sports Business Daily reports the NFL considers Oct. 15 the drop-dead date for a 16-game season that could still be completed by February.
Oct. 15 would be Week 6 under normal circumstances. John Ourand and Ben Fischer report the league would strongly want any 16-game season to be completed by the end of February. In that scenario, regular season bye weeks would be eliminated as well as the traditional off week between the conference championship games and Super Bowl. For now, the league is still planning to release a normal schedule by May 7, but it will be constructed in such a way that allows easy reconfiguration. Ourand and Fischer's entire article is worth a click.

I'm leaning towards Mekari being our starting C. That's what I got from EDC not taking Biadasz. Skura and Mekari with Skura leaving via FA or cap casualty in the future. Bozeman needs to really improve if he wants a spot on this roster. I'm rooting for him tho. I believe we're good at G and OT, at this point the competition will be fierce. May the best man win. The only whole I see is at OLB, we need to make a move there, idk at what price not sure if I'd pony up a 1st rounder. I guess it depends on who its for.

Then again we may be set if certain players turn the corner and or one or more of these new additions show out.

Watching the steelers week 17 game to get a look at ben powers and to see what i think of him vs the 2 guys we just drafted

but peripherally some other things are standing out that i thought i'd share:

James Hurst is awful - single-handedly he's able to ruin plays that are well set-up on a consistent basis

more disappointingly - RGIII cannot operate the passing game - he doesn't see the field well, doesn't have any comfort in the pocket (sees ghosts) and is pretty inaccurate... he's great operating the running game and running it as a field general but we definitely should not be satisfied with our backup situation - there will come a point where his mentorship and leadership are not enough to keep him here in baltimore

LJ Fort is fine but I'm glad we've upgraded at the position enough that he will be part of a platoon and not relied upon

Matt Judon is a man among boys playing against that 1st team Steelers OL
RG3 has never seen the field well. He has very little vision and when he was the Skins qb Shanahan had him reading half the field. Everyone thought he would adjust to it, but that hasn't been the case. One thing is, he was pretty accurate in his rookie year, however he definitely lost it after the injuries.

Was judon double teamed any last season?

Under a different organization RGIII would have flourished. He had "IT" but that team and coaches failed him. Not trying to get political here but the NFL always let non white QB's get destroyed. That kid took brutal hits way after the ball was released over and over and over again...no flags. Then the coaches didnt do him no favors either. After a while one cant blame the kid for regressing. When he came out his release was beautiful. So young and had so much potential. His brain ain't right no more.

Im not sure on Bozeman losing his starting job when we don’t even know who is taking Yandas place at this point. Skura is still a question mark for the start of the season as well. We did draft IOL but didn’t use the level of picks that get you a guy you can count on starting. I’m hoping Powers can be good enough to fill the role but that’s no given.

IOL is still an area of concern for me. Imo it’s the only area of concern. I’m not against us picking up a vet post draft cut at that position

You guys think there’ll be a NFL top 100 special this year? Usually have one each year, but with this whole covid thing, I can see why there might not be one this year. I was looking forward to seeing where our guys go this year and what do their peers think of them.

I definitely agree that in many cases coaches fail the player, but in RG3's case, it a big part of it was Dan Snyder. RG3 never had a playbook in college and Mike and Kyle Shanahan didn't want to draft him. They wanted to wait and take Russell Wilson and that's been documented. Hell they were planning on taking him even after taking RG3, but he was taken when they were picking in the 3rd round. That's when they waited another round and with their first pick on day 3 picked Kirk Cousins.

I'm 95% sure Bozeman will start at LG and the 2nd option at center, behind Skura, is Mekari, leaving Powers to compete with our new rookies.
