Eric is clearly trying to recapture some of that magic and spending higher picks on sexier positions.

even if we find a player who’s half of what yanda is tHaTs a steal lol
you got that right. It's not every day you draft the best offensive lineman in the league and HOF caliber at that.

Any interest in Takk McKinley? Just had his 5th year declined

Oh I would throw a mid-late pick for his last year of cheap services.
ATL would never get anything better than a 4th round comp in 2021 which amounts to a 5th this year.
I say.. If he has a breakout season then you get back it as a comp yourself one year later, if not, still better than a washed 35yo vet

I don’t think most people realize how important interior o line play is in this scheme. And we haven’t found any competent guards in the late rounds in recent years. I’m not saying we spend a first round pick on an interior o lineman, but guys like Bozeman can’t be a starter at guard considering how bad he’s been.

I've been saying since day one ppl are underestimating the loss of Yanda. Our scheme was centered around him
Bozeman was ok, but we could definitely look for an upgrade here. However, offensive linemen don't reach their potential until year 3 or 4 imho (strength&conditioning, scheme, technique).
I don't see any scenario where we could've drafted an OL earlier. Hunt was long gone and trading that far up for G is unheard of.
I'm not sure how much of an upgrade the LSU guys would have been compared to Phillips.

he was average and improved throughout the year in his first year starting. The way Joe D coaches OL up, we don't need to draft a 1st or 2nd round lineman for it to succeed.

Why can't he be a starter at Guard? He started at Guard last season, and we were 14-2 and had basically the best offense in the NFL.

If he was so bad, how could that have happened?

Individual offensive lineman, largely, are irrelevant. They almost never have a material impact on a football game. You put Ronnie Stanley on a line with 4 below average lineman, and he'd be lucky to get $10M on the open market.

The Oline is a unit. 3 good players and 2 average or even below average lineman will get you a top 10 unit in this league. It'll be as good or bad as the collective group plays, not by how one Guard plays. You can go look at PFF or even FilmStudy's grades for individual lineman by game. There were games where we won convincingly and seemingly had very productive games offensive, where at least one lineman was barely getting a passing grade.

If Yanda's loss is great, it won't be because we downgraded at one position only. It'll be because none of our interior lineman are playing well. We'll have like 5 guys competing for two guard spots, and we don't even know if Skura will be an impact player coming back from an injury. If we've got 6 guys in house competing for 3 spots, and none of them are worth anything, than losing Yanda probably wouldn't have made much of a difference.

EDC isn't ruling it out. I'm assuming they will do their due diligence.

the way its written makes it sound like we're considering it - the way he actually sounded when he spoke was basically the exact same style of non-answer as the first time he was asked the question - and back then it made it sound like a no

i think a lot would have to change for it not to be a no

I dnt think it would be the right move. His attitude is just too much for me. I mean we have people on our team that would straighten his ass out but the simple fact of just dealing with him like that is annoying...

However, if he fucked up in bmore, his career probably done. Literally no players have problems so that says alot.. i wonder if we could sign him and just barley use him till playoffs lol.. anyway, i think packers would be better suited for him

I want no part of AB at all. Amazing talent for sure and sure he has a nice smile when things are going good. The moment he isn't getting the ball enough, those smiles turn into temper tantrums regardless of we're winning a game or not.
