He's played in a 4-3 for virtually his entire career as an end in their system. He's going to be asked to be a stand up rusher in this defense and I don't know if he's going to excel at that going outside of his comfort zone. I don't think he'll be able to cover and so you have a guy who will only be a situational pass rusher that's really only accustomed to rushing with his hand in the dirt as opposed to standing up. I think the Seahawks are rumored to have interest in him, it would make more sense for him IMO.

Why are we still doing this?

“you’re the best edge rusher on this team, go get the qb everson”

debate over.

That’s the same kinda expectation I have. Dalton gave us fits over the years and all the bashing on his level of play is kinda strange considering that we have seen for the past decade almost that he is a competent qb
Dalton did always give us fits and he's a good QB. The big knock on him has always been he doesn't seem to have the "clutch gene". Playoffs, 0 - 4, one(1) td, 6 picks ugghhh

in 2015 he legitimately looked like the league MVP until he got injured and the bengals season went in the tank - but that was by far the best roster in the league that year and Andy Dalton had them marching

PP is past his prime, as is Sherman, but they still are both good corners.

sherman can still play at a high level as long as he's in a system like the 49ers at the moment
PP is still playing the same way he always has which puts him in tough spots - got to respect it but it also means his play level has dipped in the last 2-3 years

sherman was a 2nd team all-pro this year and deserved it but PP not so much

Gillmore has been far and away the best CB in football the last 2 years at least

That argument has merit but If that's your take then he's a sub-package rusher which is my point. Griffin will want to maximize earnings again and he can't do that as a sub-package rusher. I don't have any problem if he's a guy that's playing on a 1yr deal or great value contract, but I don't see any mutual interest on both sides here given that he's a much better fit on other teams.

Dalton willed them to a playoff win against the Steelers in dramatic fashion, the RB fumbled away their chance to close it out, then in one play and the after the whistle actions burfict and pacman gave them 30 yards in penalties for a fairly easy fg.

dalton got screwed over by his team that game worse than flacco vs the patriots lol

Patrick Queen really going to wear 48? I guess this tweet confirms it but damn couldn't we have given him 58?

How does it make him a sub package rusher only? First of all, the base defense for all teams is now the nickel, 4 rushers, 2 LBs, 5 dbs, so its simple, put him on either side of the line for the package we field the most, same for the dime package. When we’re in a 3-4 which is not the base package anymore, either take him off the field in favor of McPhee or ferguson, or let him play the edge, because the difference between a 3-4 and 4-3 over/under is the outermost edge defender standing up, that’s literally the entire difference, and since losing dean pees the ravens have never been pressed on having true 3 down standup OLBs who can also rush, because it’s unrealistic.

the ravens literally are not a 3-4 team anymore, they are closer to positionless than we’ve ever seen, they just take guys who do something well and let them do it.

Don’t think Dalton ever played the Steelers in the playoffs. Did he?
