1 player isn't worth handicapping our capspace by 20%
sorry. Ronnie Stanley isn't a once or even twice or even thrice a generation player.
No but Lamar is, and hes no good to us if we get him killed like RG3 or Andrew Luck.

Not to mention we could have tried with Terrell Lewis, too.
Are we really going to pay Ronnie ,Tunsil + money?
1. This was inevitable anyway. There's so very few stud LTs in the league that the values were only going to skyrocket. The 2020 class is supposed to be one of the best ever in that regard, and you've had only a handful of even competent LTs coming out of college the last few years.
2. All that really matters is the guaranteed money, not the total amount or even the annual amount. I had Ronnie slotting in around $40-45M guaranteed, and Tunsil got $40M guaranteed, so I think that's about right.
You can sign Stanley for 5 years for $150M, but if only $50M of is guaranteed, the rest doesn't even matter. He'll be on year-to-year contracts after two years like most long term deals.
Also props to the Texans for a good deal structure. That's how Stanley's deal should look. Modest bonus, larger base salaries, helps flatten out the cap hits a bit, especially on the back end.
let him go. He's a very good tackle but overrated. He's not even much of a run blocker. If he's asking for 23-25 million, unless you're Ogden or Orlando Pace or Walter Jones
Go destroy some other teams cap space.
also, i don't buy into his grades over the last two years because lamar DOES help him tremedously when it comes to his ability to move around the pocket.

then draft a LT next year.
Overrated? You kidding me?
How much would you pay an Ogden or Walter Jones?
Do your homework then. I'd rather have a solid tackle than a very good one ( sorry, i just don;t see ronnie as elite) and more cap. He's in a good situation here and he's a very good player ( Jordan Gross, Da'Brickashaw Ferguson, Matt Light)
But we're going to end up paying him like he's a HOF
and he's not. I'd rather have a slight downgrade and a shitload more cap to spend.
I also find his run blocking to be average at best
If stanley is willing to be reasonable with the contract than fine
but if he's asking for 4-5 per year mill more than tunsil he can go take his ego elsewhere
I'd pay crazy money for a prime yanda or a quenton nelson or a prime jason peters
NOT Ronnie Stanley
But wait a minute, isn't the whole point of the draft to get as many elite or close-to-elite players as possible? How much would you pay an Ogden or Walter Jones?

Luck had Costanzo and Rg3 had trent williams
Peak trent williams > Ronnie and Costanzo isnt that far off ronnie..he was underrated as fuck
Consider the whole picture if we move Stanley especially now Yanda is gone and Skura is trying to make comeback from knee explosion, we would have a pro bowl RT and 4 below league average linemen to the left of him. It would be our worst ever oline.
