Anyone have a dark horse breakout player for the ravens? Doesn’t have to be a guy who becomes a star but just a much lesser known guy you think can make a big leap? I’m going with jihad ward, he felt like a guy Wink really loved having here, he had stretches where he was living in backfields, and he brings some quality play across a lot of positions, edge, 5tech, I think I’ve seen him standup rushing inside and out as well and maybe even some 3 tech. Dudes got a well rounded physical skill set too, he’s got a great build for his role and he has all the athleticism and power you need, if he sharpens up he could have a McPhee 2014 like season.

how cool would that be, raiders see our castoff break out with Darren Waller, we see the raiders castoff break out with Ward.

i liked ward but i dont think he's going to make a leap and be more than he was last year - for me he's a quality rotational piece

i dont know if deshon elliott satisfies the criteria here but i think even with both starters in place at safety, deshon is going to force his way onto the field to allow chuck to stay close to the LoS in those dime looks

and ill be bold here and say that while i think earl thomas was pretty good last year, that deshon elliott will make more splash plays than him if he stays healthy for a whole season

if im not allowed deshon elliott because he's not under the radar enough then id say Ben Powers, he looked much better than he should have looked for a guy who couldnt get activated all year in that week 17 matchup against the steelers - the powers starting at RG train got completely derailed the moment that we signed dj fluker but im not sure that discussion should have ended - powers was impressive in preseason and impressive in week 17 and i think tools-wise he has more to offer than mekari (who did well but his length is always going to be a flaw that he struggles to overcome no matter how well he did in relief of skura)

it may disappoint some but i think because of the potentially abbreviated camp that as long as skura's knee seems to be ok that we're not going to see competition at all 3 interior OL spots like we might have with a full offseason and preseason - think we're going to see Bozeman and Skura at LG and C and then competition at RG only

and tbh that's probably ok if Skura comes back close the level he played at last year - completely possible that all 5 starting OL are still on rookie deals

i mean there's a legitimate possibility that if fluker's not everything he can be and we only keep 8 OL that every single one of our OL be that starter or backup will still be on their rookie deal

Ronnie Stanley's on his 5th year option of his rookie deal
Bradley Bozeman's on year 3 of his rookie deal
Skura's deal you could quibble about because he's been tendered as a RFA (but he's RFA because he's in year 4 of being a UDFA)
Ben Powers is on year 2 of his rookie deal
Orlando Brown is on year 3 of his rookie deal
Patrick Mekari is on year 2 of his rookie deal
Tyre Phillips is on year 1 of his rookie deal
Ben Bredeson is on year 1 of his rookie deal

there's a high chance all 8 of those guys make it
DJ Fluker is the only wildcard who breaks up this possibility

Hopefully Ferg with a season under his belt and some big boys in front of him while others are paying attention to Judon on the other side, assuming Ferg starts and not McPhee

Alabama.... where Football is the only thing they know how to do correctly. COVID-19 on the other hand? Thanks idiots.

Students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 have been attending parties in the city and surrounding area as part of a disturbing contest to see who can catch the virus first, a city council member told ABC News on Wednesday.

She said the organizers of the parties are purposely inviting guests who have COVID-19.

"They put money in a pot and they try to get COVID. Whoever gets COVID first gets the pot. It makes no sense," McKinstry said. "They're intentionally doing it."

speaking of cam newton:

- this stinks of the kind of hate that lamar got the last few years (and that cam has had from certain corners throughout his career) that's completely unjustified...

also this from bellicheck:

Reading the comments from Pats fans/those who live in Massachusetts, it seems that these two Karens aren't really popular over there either.

I won't call him a breakout player per se, but I see Chuck Clark continue his emergence and become one of the more quality safeties in the game.

Ferguson will break out this year opposite Judon.

this is complete folly:

absolutely no way the NFLPA wants 10 fewer players coming to camp (im assuming that's potentially 320 potential camp roster spots across the league that wont be filled which is 320 extra players without jobs or job opportunities - especially after they just passed the new CBA that raised minimum salaries and supposedly increased the player's share)

the other problem is that 10 fewer players hardly makes a difference when there's still 80 left... at that point its an exercise in futility and making yourself look silly

at least that's my first impression of this idea

I mean the n1 priority should be to minimize infection outside of team facilities. 10 more or less doesn't really matter. (there are already dozens of scouts, coaches, equipment managers...)
Soccer leagues around the world show it's possible.

If there isn’t a season or the season is delayed, I hope that’s Lamar’s Madden course, unless the Madden curse and the Drake curse cancel each other out

10 guys less in the crowd of 150-200 doesn't make any sense from the health point of view. If absent guys don't get paid, we'll just confirm it's, like everything else, about money. If they get their salaries, then somebody is plain stupid.

Been awhile but was coming back in hopes someone was discussing this. I think it both makes sense and doesn't make sense.

On the doesn't make sense side, 10 guys isn't going to be a huge difference. If the real reason is to try to prevent the spread, this basically matters none.

On the does make sense side, a big reason why they went to 90 in the first place was because teams needed guys for preseason and the NFLPA saw that as an opportunity for more jobs. With no preseason, those 10 aren't needed and the NFLPA might be more willing to make concessions. I mean, the 10 or so guys that are released are likely the guys that get next to no reps in training camp and come in on the very last drive in preseason.

I'd think it's dressed up as a rona concern but in reality, teams don't want those extra 10 guys because there's not really a need for them this year. I know they always try to paint it like every UDFA has a shot but they know who actually does and there's always 10-15 that are there strictly for bodies.

i really dont think he has a flaky mentality - dude has played through bad injuries (much like andrew luck) and had to have shoulder surgeries - people always go after him for 1 play he didnt make in the superbowl as if that 1 play in a big spot outdoes all the plucky and dedicated stuff he's done in his career

tbh the way they rank it doesnt make much sense - they're attributing a lot of the work that GMs do to the owners in a lot of places - in some places praising owners for getting rid of guys and in others praising owners for not getting rid of guys etc. etc.

an odd ranking system
Overall i thinks its pretty on point. Well atleast the top 3
