winning a superbowl as a QB doesnt seem crucial to getting in albeit it might soon become important that way

- dan fouts never even reached a superbowl let alone won one
- jim kelly went to 4 superbowls but lost all 4
- dan marino never won one either
- Warren Moon never won one as a player either (did technically win one as a broadcaster for the seahawks in 2014 though lol)
- Fran Tarkenton never won a superbowl

phillip rivers might be a good test of that when he retires though

but so far it seems not important to win a superbowl at all - and there are a number of notable QBs who have only won one also...

i think when thinking about superbowl QBs you have to ask - could this person be regarded as so good at what they do that you can't tell the story of their era of football without mentioning them frequently and often

I obviously hope we win at least 1 superbowl (and hopefully more but let's not get ahead of ourselves) with Lamar at the helm but we're primed for a potentially league and sport-defining rivalry between mahomes and Lamar that could mean both of them make it to the HOF even if Lamar never won a superbowl during that period

that being said i find it hard to believe that if lamar does play that well that we would never win one

it would be hard to justify not including him in the HOF if he has multiple regular seasons that look anything like 2019 (or like how 2020 has started for him)

I completely agree. I'm still just primed for Lamar not getting the respect he deserves. I just know if he gets a Superbowl everyone's tune will completely change. Obviously a decade or more too early for HoF, but I'm rooting for him.

if they don't stop the short passes anticipating yac this game is doomed. SPREAD the DEF, that's the strength of this OFF. Start calling Flacco ball again and we lose every time. This second series is bullsh!t.

Guys, I think I found a way that we can beat the Chiefs: we can't play them in the third week of the regular season or the third week to end the regular season. Any other week? We're gucci.

On another random note, fuck you ref for that egregious tripping call. And can we eliminate the rollout to the right? Shit's pathetic.

To me, the game showed two things:
1- whomever the OC, the Ravens become devoted to making something that fails the play they are going to do until they get it right. Those dumb ass quick passes to the WR hoping he jukes and jives his way to fabulous YAC.
2- Tavon Young's absence is going to be a killer. We'll be looking for a quality CB by noon today...

I'll try to interject some positivity here. Week 15 of 2012 season, we were blown out at home by Denver (31-3 at one point, final was 34-17). Several weeks later, we beat them in their place and went on to win it all. The season isn't over by a long shot. We have 3 consecutive weeks of absurdly poor opponents to use for recovery.

1. We don't have WRs on this roster that can create physical separation and win contested catches. We've known this for 2 years now, and we knew this in the offseason when we did very little to address the position.
Everybody was so happy to see us try the Chiefs 2.0 attempt of just putting speed on the field. That's why we drafted Hollywood, Duvernay and Proche. One could argue they're not on the field enough, but that also means you leave Andrews and Boyle as your "physical, make a play" receivers. And Andrews has spells of stone hands.
2. Last night had nothing to do with Tavon Young being out. It'll take time to learn how to play without him, but we've won playoff games with like Chykie Brown and Melvin at Corner (seriously). Peters played poorly last night because he bit on a ton of routes incorrectly and appeared to have no interest in tackling, and Marlon spent half the game blitzing with zero success.
For those expecting another Marcus Peters mid-season addition... I'd start preparing for disappointment now. I'll be highly surprised to see us add a Corner without another injury, and it'll be of the Brandon Carr-level, which means not a gamechanger.

If I'm looking for somebody to add via trade or FA, Corner is actually one of the last places I'm looking. I'd be focusing on depth at Safety, literally anybody who can rush the passer with even mild consistency, a physical receiver, or an interior Olineman.

2014: We got destroyed 43-23 in Pittsburgh in early November. Ben threw for 340 yards and 6 TDs. This was a week after losing Jimmy Smith for the season.

Almost exactly two months later, we went back to Pittsburgh and beat them 30-17.
That team had an Oline that consisted of Yanda at RT, James Hurst at LT, and the likes of John Urschel and Jeremy Zuttah on the interior.

It also featured a secondary that had Webb, Rashaan Melvin, Darian Stewart, Will Hill, and significant snaps from Jeremy Miles, Anthony Levine, and yes, the one and only, Matt Elam.
On offense, we were rocking out with the likes of Owen Daniels, Justin Forsett, and Crockett Gillmore as key contributors.

Regardless who's playing for us, or regardless of who's on our coaching staff, it seems like we're all bark and no bite, season after season.

Well, I mean, you can't go 14-2 and be all bark and no bite. Its just not possible.

You can choke in certain spots, which we have, or run into mismatches against better opponents (Chiefs) like we have, but it doesn't mean you don't have a good squad.
