Grim

Ravens Ring of Honor
Think he’ll remain inactive unless absolutely needed. Obvious they like him but he needs some work first. Would imagine the active backups going forward are Bredeson, Powers, and Holden. TCC is OL9 now.
It still feels surreal to me that we lost Stanley for the year. I kinda still can't believe it.

Going for a couple of old guys in Bethea and Williams. Makes you wonder what the hell got Marcus Gilchrist cut that they'd resort to these options, but whatever lol

He ain't making it to us on waivers so no real sense in talking about it.
That would be a nice addition though lol

seems to me like tavon gets more money now and gets a lower salary in 2021 but it's fully guaranteed (obviously attractive to him given his injuries - probably saw the writing on the wall)

but to me that looks like we save 1.7m against this year's cap and another 2.1m against 2021's cap and his 2022 cap hit goes up by only 800k to just over 9m but we could still save nearly 5.845m by releasing him in 2022 if we needed to

Yep it looks like a good move on the surface. Adds another year of commitment, but at a lower amount now. Dead money would have been more than the savings in 2021 so no complaints here. We know he's got talent and now we've shaved over $2M off next year.

and this year too lol

Smart move for Tavon's side as well. If we had cut him, he'd have had to settled for a 1 year prove it deal and might have gotten slightly less (with no guarantees) on the open market. He locks himself in for another go at it where he's comfortable, and the Ravens have some savings to show and hopefully a talented and healthy player out of it too.

oh 100% he was not getting the same money elsewhere as he can get with us even still - certainly not with any significant guarantees - this restructure just guaranteed him 5m in future money (some immediately) that he didnt have before - he might not have seen a total deal worth 5m in the offseason this year

but we also save deadcap by restructuring and not having to release him probably with the understanding that we're going to be adding more DBs to the group and that Tavon's starting spot is not guaranteed but that we like him and there's a significant role here for him still

I like the move, I don’t trust bonds in the slightest, if he is left to play a starters snap count then he will cost us at least one game, but I’d imagine he’d cost us multiple, any close game and he is the guy that will be targeted late and he will probably fail more often than not in such situations.

this is a move to shore up a position where the last guy on the field simply isn’t good enough and the FO knows it and they aren’t leaving it to chance to lose a spot in the seeding race because bonds has a knucklehead moment.

I don't think Bonds is THAT bad but Williams is a nice get at this point. Slot, outside, and S depth. Another versatile piece that they can plug in multiple places if/when needed.

I don't feel like going back to find the tweet now, but we're putting TE Luke Willson through the protocols for a tryout next week. Probably the best of the available TE3 options. Wouldn't be shocked if he ends up on the 53.
