The second bye week should have became a thing this year, hell I'm for 2 bye weeks permanently each year. Teams have their normal bye then everyone gets a league wide bye the week before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving. Then all teams come back for the playoff run.

As for Sunday, I was just waiting for our game to be moved. I think the NFL is desperately trying to everything to avoid a 8 team playoff and it's not working. Now tomorrow is going to suck, the other two games are terrible.

it would be funny though if we suddenly had an 8 team playoff because then the steelers would be crying all over again about losing another bye week lol because suddenly the 1 seed would have to play the 8 seed

I definitely understand the Steelers' frustrations. They do plan their entire weeks around these games and after basically losing their bye week (They already had 4 days of practice before the Titans game got postponed) they're now losing the longest break between games (10 days) that they would have otherwise had.

That being said, they're also 10-0 and shouldn't be acting like they've been disadvantaged in some major way. They're going to be playing a depleted Ravens team that was already on a downward trajectory and aren't going to have as large of a risk of getting Covid as they would have had they played tomorrow.
The refs have gifted them so many calls this year they should not be complaining.

Beyond being completely stupid in the first place it also ignores the fact that the Ravens beat down on that steelers team without Lamar, Ingram, Andrews, Stanley, Yanda, Earl Thomas, Brandon Williams - 7 pro bowlers
Mr. Fantastic would be amazed by that individual's reach. Like........I was speechless when I saw that tweet.

reportedly it's a member of the strength and conditioning staff too

I do have to wonder if it's steve saunders given this in August:

but just want to point out that this is pure speculation on my part and completely unconfirmed

what is likely though is that the NFL will come down hard on us - this may result in a lost draft pick potentially which would be incredibly frustrating

Doubtful unless they can prove the Ravens broke protocol or acted in a malicious manner. These guys aren’t quarantining every week . Still going to Target/Home Depot/ Walmart/ family and homes etc... just like everyone else. Very possible they caught it out during the normal course of the day.

Also , #letthemplay was in reference to college football. Which he was absolutely correct to support as we see it’s working just fine.

they've been pretty clear that they've worked out where the outbreak started and based on this and the NFL's earlier statements i'd strongly suggest that this indicates what they're pretty sure happened (they've literally been tracking the genome of the virus in this outbreak to work out where and who it came from)

and even if it wasnt the strength and conditioning coach - there was a clear breach of protocols that may have (and probably did) lead to an outbreak within the facility and:

not guaranteed that they'll punish the team but I'd say it's likely we'll at least be fined

Foot in mouth I just read an article posted 40 mins ago that the Ravens believe he did infact break protocol

it's *** and he's the only to report so far (but it's only been 5 minutes) but i'd suggest it's fairly likely he's correct given this was not unexpected

I wonder what kinda fines we’ll be looking at. Hopefully financial only , not draft capital

It is not looking good for Sunday at this point. All because one guy had to go and break protocol. Not sure what they’ll end up doing but can’t fathom any way that they make us play if the positive tests continue over the next 2 days. It’s so unfortunate that it’s a strength and conditioning coach because he’s exposed to everybody, and I think we’re seeing that with the varied positions of guys that have gone to the list... especially injured ones

to be fair Dr Allen Sills yesterday (or the day before - i cant remember exactly) said they think they have a handle on where the spread was coming from and that they were themselves not expecting to have a day of negatives today - said they were expecting things to be resolving on friday which suggests they're fairly confident that they're highly confident the incubation period will be mostly over at that point

my guess is their aim is to allow us to walkthrough maybe saturday if we dont get anymore positives on saturday

what's potentially going to be tougher is that we're down around 8 players already and we dont know how many positives we've got today either yet which means we're potentially looking at another chunk of the team down too lol - we're approaching the limit of practice squad replacements available lol

i know they set the precedent with the Titans and not making them forfeit but I have to wonder if that's on the table given that this outbreak is clearly caused by a break in protocols - i doubt the NFL want to do that and the Steelers players likely dont want that because I think they'd technically lose a game check but given the lack of flexibility left in the schedule I struggle to see it not being on the table

then again if they do then the Ravens may well fight back given the precedent of the Titans game earlier in the year - so maybe the NFL doesnt even consider it to stave off those potential litigation issues

I think that's the hope. Obviously we've followed protocols since the positives started coming down, so you'd think the "spread" is stopped and all of these positives are related to the incubation period. Buuuutttt this year is super unpredictable so I wouldn't necessarily count on that.

With that in mind, I wonder what the NFL would do if an entire position was decimated with it being impossible to field enough players there. Like, if the RB group continued to get hit and then we were stuck with 1 guy to carry the load. Do they really care about player safety in that case?

As far as the roster goes, technically we only have to get to 48 with the game day inactives, so right now, we probably won't need to promote as many as it seems on the surface. Would think Dez, Willson, and Holden are all in line to get elevated again, but do we really need anyone else? Ty'Son Williams seems likely but we haven't been decimated enough at any specific position to "need" to fill to 53... pending today's results of course

QB - McSorley / QB3, no need to replace
RB - Dobbins and Ingram / T. Williams likely to replace
OL - Mekari and Skura / Phillips return from IR and enough depth here
DL - Williams and Campbell / unlikely to play anyways, likely to roll with 4 or might elevate Crawford
OLB - McPhee / Ward inactive to active list on game day
