Lamar Jackson

Lmaooo.. i dnt know about all that. I got faith in my boy lamar but he need to hurry and show up
I didn’t think so but let’s be honest here with ourselves too: if Lamar cannot do it then we need to move on as well because that kind of guy isn’t the guy we need. That said I think he can improve and get there. He’s shown the work ethic and improved a lot between his first and second year but this year not so much. This was also a very unique offseason so I won’t hit the panic button on Jackson yet but he needs to improve next year.

Is Lamar really significantly worse than last year passing-wise? He misses the same type of throws as he did last year.
I seriously doubt a NFL qb can't throw accurately anymore, it's the same thing like learning how to ride a bicycle. It might take a couple of reps/sec to get comfortable again, but you don't forget/lose the ability to ride a bicycle/throw accurate throws.

Like Deebo said, Lamar is a limited passer, lets take adavantage of what he does best. Running and throwing in-breaking routes.

I don’t think Lamar is any worse than last year in throwing the ball. I think it’s a combination of worse decision making and decision making that worked out for him last year but isn’t this year. Jackson also looks more hesitant in all facets this year. He isn’t decisive and that’s a big problem for me. Lamar just hasn’t improved and I think the offseason did play a part in that with him. I’m not giving him a pass because he needs to improve, pandemic or not, because others improved too under the same conditions.

I really kind of think Lamar and others (players and coaches) expected to pick up where they left off and that was clearly a big mistake.

So like I'm on board with the "do what Lamar does best" thing, BUT...

if that's the route we're going, I'm never, in a million years, handing him a lucrative second contract. Like my desire to "let Lamar be Lamar" and structure an offense to hide his issues and only focus on what he does well, has a shelf life of no more than maybe 5-6 years. Doing a second contract with a guy that you have to limit the offense to do only a handful of things will be the kind of contract that a) will have negative ROI and b) set the franchise back a half a decade or more.

I said this after the 2018 season... I have 1000% OK if our stance, as an organization, becomes "we're going to ride this train til the wheels fall off", meaning Lamar gets to run a gadget offense with misdirections, read options, etc. and he's out there running it 10 -15 times a game every single week. I'm 1000% on board with that for about 5-6 years. After that, it's just a hard cutoff. The moment I have to even discuss paying him like $30M+ a year, I'm O U T out. In 3-5 years, Lamar simply won't be outrunning people in this league anymore. And when that happens, he'll either be a prolific thrower of the football, or he'll be a backup or a fringe starter.

If I want this marriage to last beyond 5-6 years, I better find out if the latter is possible before I sign the papers.

Hard to pick up where you left off when you don't make your offense significantly better by adding quality pieces to improve it.

We certainly need to add pieces around him. I mean, Stanley, Orlando Brown Jr, Dobbins, Andrews, Boyle, Ricard are excellent pieces. Brown, Powers, Bozeman, Mekari are unproven but have promise. Boykin hasn't shown enough. Snead is actually good enough for his role as a WR3.

We just lack that real WR1 IMHO to complement Jackson. AJ Brown would've been an ideal fit for him but that didn't happen. Hopkins would've bene excellent too. I think we know the needs as a team we just need to find a way to make it happen. I don't think we are that far from being good offensively.

Personally wish we would've gotten Diggs I've always loved him

I cancelled it (mentally) the moment that we lost back to back games to the Patriots and the Titans (both AFC opponents). I told a friend of mine that @ 6-4 the Ravens are through, done and finished! And now, the Covid-19 victims are piling up with Lamar being the new addition.

Next man up huh? That'd be you....."BOB!"

I was done when Ronnie got injured, quite honestly. I hope Blazin’ Bullets Bob revives his career and gets some interest in the offseason!

Well, it was Bob that got a "W" against the Steelers last season when he got the opportunity to start during our magical run to 14-2. That was a different team back then.

This season has been a disappointment that just keeps getting worse. Honestly, outside of how limited and weird this offense has become, the biggest blow was Tavon Young getting hurt again. I expected him to completely change the way our defense looked.
