I see no connection to Vanderbilt at all. He didn't go to school there, and he's got very young kids. I guess he's technically not the secondary coach, so he's basically an assistant to an assistant coach. So I guess a DC gig at an SEC school is a step up somewhat, but still seems to odd to me.Ok I mean I don’t think anyone thinks or hope nobody thinks that firing Roman or making any coaching change magically improves our players from not executing well. I couldn’t agree more that we need major help at WR & C regardless of who coaches us. I just think others have said the same thing and thought your comment saying otherwise was wrong. Other than that I think you’re spot on.
My guess would be either he went there or maybe one of his kids is going there?
Anyone want to remind me why we didn’t resign Jensen? He’s always been a stud.Seeing highlights of Jensen from Saints game, and it has me wishing for a mailer on the interior. Not only does he snap well (something that’s supposed to be taught in PeeWee), but he’s just running people over
I’m gonna pull my hair out if I have to see another year of this pistol bullshit the league has figured out, at least the good teams and the teams in the playoffs.Roman and Lamar better be in a room right now talking about passing concepts....
i think this is a bit more worrying - Chris Hewitt is seen as a rising star - and if we lose both him and Jesse Minter we lose the DB assistant coach room especially as the only other guy on our staff who I think has worked with DBs before is Macdonald who's also gone lol
obviously if Hewitt gets offered the DC job with the jags i won't begrudge him that opportunity given that he's stuck behind Wink for the foreseeable future here but it would be a real loss for the staff to lose him

the price. He was offered over 10m a year for 1 season. He wasn't worth that much.Anyone want to remind me why we didn’t resign Jensen? He’s always been a stud.
it is true we had a bad cap situation at the time as well, but for multiple reasons, not just for Flacco. We needed to pay some backup DL or something... then again Flacco’s terrible contract held us back too
as am I. Just look at Mekari's entire season, not just the playoff game.I think it's important to remember that Jensen didn't just come into the league playing at that level. He was a practice squad guy and then, if I recall correctly, played behind Urschel. He became the starter only when Urschel retired. The Ravens excel in developing linemen. I am not at all interested in giving up in Mekari, in spite of the terrible game, nor TCC. Perhaps I'm alone here, but I am optimistic about our existing options at center.

Can the Jags just straight up hire them or do they have to promote Cullen/Hewitt to DC. In Hewitt case we'd receive 2x 3rd comp picks though.

Jensen was a 6th round pick who did nothing his rookie year, had some health issue after, and then finally got into form and became a rotational piece & eventual starter at C before leaving. IIRC he played LG & C for us at times. Yes, at the time he was a bit of a question mark but he's become pretty good. I like Mekari but you can't go into offseason with only him & TCC as your guys at C.I think it's important to remember that Jensen didn't just come into the league playing at that level. True, he wasn't worth that at the time but I think in hindsight it was a good deal. TB paid him what they thought he would be worth and with prices now he's kinda worth it, I would say.the price. He was offered over 10m a year for 1 season. He wasn't worth that much.
Mekari was solid when he took over for Skura. I will say that while I like him, we can't go into the season expecting him as our starter. He isn't Yanda, Stanley, or Brown Jr good. Honestly, all our interior spots should be up for competition this year. I like Bozeman & Powers but don't hand it over to them. Let these dudes bust their ass for the job. I'm not saying you're saying that, either; I'm only elaborating on what you said here.as am I. Just look at Mekari's entire season, not just the playoff game.

Agree, none of the interior spots should be handed to them. We need good competition or we will be in the same boat next season.Jensen was a 6th round pick who did nothing his rookie year, had some health issue after, and then finally got into form and became a rotational piece & eventual starter at C before leaving.
