With the looming prospect of no combine, the senior bowl takes on potentially even more importance than before especially regarding various measurables.

https://www.nfl.com/news/2021-senior-bowl-roster-reveal-what-you-need-to-know

4 1st round picks on last years senior bowl roster and a ton of draft picks including a load of wide receivers who went on day 2

this years group looks similarly loaded with interesting names

the OL group looks absolutely stacked

Really interested in seeing C/G Quinn Meinerz. I like what he brings from a nastiness perspective, could be a good fit here.

UMMMM

HOLY SHIT!!!

wtf lol why? - i mean i love getting to see him wreck shop in that setting but he really doesnt need to be there...

i guess with probably no combine he gets the inside track with the Dolphins and Panthers coaching staffs

but he might be one of the best talents the senior bowl's ever had - jim nagy's amazing at acquiring talent for the senior bowl since he took over the game

Maybe it’s time to dip back into that OU football program.

would feel nice to have a true center

not got into any iol yet but from what I’ve read (and what I saw in 2019 - when I thought he was gonna come out) he’s not continued on the pathway looked like he was on 2 years ago - will have to wait and see on any evaluation but from what I’ve read it doesn’t seem like he’s been worthy of a 1st round pick

funny you mention that.

I remember reading a draft report on him on Reddit and some people were bringing that up too. Stuff like relying too much on his physical gifts and didn’t show an effort to perfect his technique. Character concerns pretty much.

he’s an intriguing name in a senior bowl full of interesting guys this year

the 1v1 drills are going to be especially important for us to watch this year given the way our needs are

best drills for remote scouting are the 1v1s Receivers vs DBs and OL vs DL and obviously we have very serious interest in the WRs, OL and EDGE classes...

Just did some tape study on d'wayne eskridge - i think he's probably about to blow up the senior bowl and rise up a ton of draft boards

but on top of that look at how nasty he is - a thread of a 5'9 WR blocking lol...

but this one is the best one - literally blocks the corner into the ref out the back of the endzone

he's been the biggest surprise for me so far - i really like him

with the lack of a combine and some guys having opted out - there's a ton of prospects still being added to the senior bowl - a lot of highly rated ones too

the senior bowl rosters this year are so stacked and there's at least one more "early-round prospect" (to quote jim nagy) to be added today

Frank Darby is a really interesting guy - hardly played this year at all

he's 6'1 200lbs but looks a plays bigger than that - he's pretty athletic but most importantly he knows how he wins and uses the tools at his disposal to separate - has some nice route running tools, uses his hands well in the routes, stacks well on vertical routes and he's aggressive at the catch point and physical after the catch

got nice quickness for a big guy even if he doesn't have blazing long speed and he uses those tools to make himself a vertical threat which opens up the underneath stuff for him

gonna be a really interesting prospect to watch in the 1v1s and I like him a lot more than some of the other bigger boundary guys with bigger names...

Random, but sup with Arizona St turning out WRs lately.

N’Keal Harry, Aiyuk and now Darby.

I don’t know anything about Darby, but pretty wild to have 2 WRs go 1st round back to back from ASU.. and now another ones probably mid-round.

i know lol - tbf i really didn't think N'Keal Harry belonged anywhere near the 1st round - had him as a mid-round pick - late 3rd at the highest

but still crazy

well i guess ill be waiting for the senior bowl to actually release the practice footage this year - somehow the senior bowl coverage on nfl network is even worse than it was last year - show you about 10-15 total 1v1 reps of the WRs vs DBs and maybe another 10 plays of 11v11 then it's all chat and interviews in the hour long recap

show me the guys who are actually practicing lol

And now Eskridge is the talk of the town. Woah we are shocked (no we're not).

camryn bynum was matched up against him a couple of times - saw him get beat handily one time and then play perfect coverage on the other rep

i think the benefit of this year's senior bowl vs last year's is that i was impossible for WRs not to look like superstars last year because the level of DB play in the senior bowl was not high

i havent got into the DBs this year but ive seen people over social media talking about how it's a good group of corners at the senior bowl

the odds are so stacked against the DBs in the 1v1s that if they aren't good it decreases the value of the rep somewhat lol

no such problems this year it seems

So i found some ok footage of all the WR vs DB 1v1s (or at least most of them)

WR winners of practice day 1:

Cade Johnson (probably had the most consistent great day)
Cornell Powell
Nico Collins
D'wayne Eskridge
Shi Smith
Demetric Felton (who mostly played RB in college)

CB winners of practice day 1:
DJ Daniels
Camryn Bynum
Tre Brown

Eskridge absolutely dominating again today
Nico Collins too

also loving the mics on some of the positional coaches - gerald alexander dolphins DB coach and Lemuel Jeanpierre dolphins OL coach seem to be really great knowledgeable teachers from the few moments they've caught on camera so far
