I'm not concerned with whether he half-asses a preseason game.

I want to see him half-ass an entire month of September, or October, or November, or December. I think, and I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money on it, that he simply doesn't have the testicular fortitude to do it.
That'd be a quick way for his teammates to want to fight him if they caught on to him half-assing it. I don't think it's in Watson's character tbh.

I'm with you that he wouldn't do it. I thought the argument was that teams would avoid him if he did.

I mean if he half asses the entire offseason and the entire preseason then even if he takes the regular season seriously the damage is done and the team knows it. The Texans have a culture problem and you cannot exactly change the culture when your QB is doing the bare minimum.

I actually really like Duv. I think he’d be a great 4 until he develops more. Boykin needs to go as well

We should build on a group consisting of Hollywood, Duv and Proche. Sign Allen Robinson and someone cheap like Curtis Samuel, Dede Westbrook or Rashard Higgins
with what cap space?

I think they possibly would. I'm not saying he'd never get a job again, but if I'm another franchise, I'm hesitant to pay out $100M in guaranteed money or whatever it would cost to a guy who's shown that he'll quit on the team if he doesn't get his way.

I think some franchises would view that as more problematic than off-field concerns are.

I know I’m dreaming, but let’s get the Rams on the line and see how they’re making things work
They're not making things work very well right now. They'll be probably $30M over the cap. Will be cutting guys and restructuring contracts to make it work.

And Stafford will be the first one of those restructures, for certain.

Any word at all on who will replace Culley btw? I’m hoping we get or got someone who can help Roman with the passing game.

We might not even bother filling his role as pass coordinator (not sure we’d ever had one before him) but yeah who the WR coach is going to be is very quiet right now

probably worth pointing out that we’re clearly trending towards having positional coaches taking on specific coordinator titles - we’ve now got Chris hewitt going into year 2 as pass game coordinator and just brought in Anthony weaver who’s DL coach and run game coordinator... Greg Roman was run game coordinator for offence when he coached TEs and Culley was obviously pass game coordinator - will be interesting to see if we replace that roll or just find a WR coach

my guess is we get someone from outside but we’ve also got bobby engram in house who could shift back from TE coach to WR coach and Andy bischoff could take on the TEs - to me that seems like the obvious options if we stay internal but it would be nice to get some fresh ideas into the building

also possible if we only bring in a WR coach that James urban maybe gets a shot to be pass game coordinator

Please no....Engram has done a pretty good job with the TEs, but we weren't seeing a whole lot from the WRs when he was coaching that group (to be fair, the group was pretty bad to begin with during that time, but still). I would definitely like to see us hire someone new to the team to coach the WRs.

i agree tbh - i was pretty harsh on engram before he got moved to TEs and tbf to him given the talent he had to work with it's hard to know whether he did a good job or not lol - but yeah he's done a pretty nice job with the TEs especially this year with all the turnover

but it's always nice to add a new voice especially when you're trying to be creative as an offensive staff

Yeah, I was also pretty harsh with him when he was coaching the WRs, but I'll give him credit for doing a good job with the TEs. I think Boyle has actually gotten a lot better as a receiving option since Engram took over which is great to see.

This is a regurgitated account from a guy who has had to "rebrand" multiple times after being exposed as a fraud. He has no inside information. Just throws stuff out and sees what sticks.

It's not hard to pin a vet wr to teams who cant draft em or need help at the position.

He had us picking up Frank Gore and Tavon Austin for pretty much the entirety of the offseason, even after the draft. So yeah, that should about show how valuable that "report" is.

i mean this probably has no tangible impact on our team right now but i really wish we were able to keep him in the organisation

Nope not at all. It does suck to see a good guy go but glad he's getting an opportunity. Think he would have stuck around here and probably would have gotten the job had we not had so much youth at ILB. Rob Ryan just seems like a better fit for what we need currently.
