Thought I'd start this thread now because we're starting to get some mocks, including DJ's mock 1.0

https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2021-nfl-mock-draft-1-0-zach-wilson-to-jets

obviously nothing to take too seriously regarding the QBs but I see Tutu Atwell at 31 to the Packers and wonder what on earth DJ is smoking...

I've watched now 10 guys who fit a similar profile to Atwell (including him) - the diminutive slot with great quickness - and he might be the lowest graded one of the bunch right now

He's got crazy speed but that's basically it

I'll never discredit DJ. We were calling him crazy when he was the first to put McCaffrey in the top 10 and Becton at 4. I won't ever make the same mistake.

i mean yes he was first on those guys but man i just do not see it with Tutu (that might be like the way Mel Kiper sometimes drops a guy in late 1st round in his mocks who has no right to be there but who he thinks hasn't had enough attention from the wider media)

happy to admit if im wrong but right now i dont even have tutu in day 2 let alone day 1

No I know what you mean and I have Tutu as a late date 2 probably. I just don't think DJ is on drugs or click bait. There's always some material to what he says.

Came across one of the more interesting picks I've seen for the Ravens:
Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa

Baltimore appears likely to bid farewell to Matthew Judon this offseason after he played 2020 on the franchise tag. With Zaven Collins, the Ravens aren't getting a true edge defender but they are getting the kind of hybrid defender who can take reps on the edge just as easily as he can be stacked off the ball. Baltimore's identity will always be rooted in fast, physical defense and Collins' addition to a talented front seven is, quite frankly, terrifying.

I know little about him, but looking up Collins he does seem like something that fits the Ravens' defense. An athletic playmaker that plays every linebacker position, and is equally good rushing and in coverage. He's perfect for a team that likes to crowd the line and disguise what they're going to do. Also he just seems to be a turnover machine. Good awareness and very opportunistic..

I’d 100% meltdown if we took a 1st round LB 2 years in a row

Chad Reuter had us taking Kwity Paye, Nico Collins and Trey Hill

- don’t love the values but don’t hate the picks - kwity paye’s a day 1 starter at edge but Collins and hill are a bit of a projection - a bit of a gamble
Paye doesn’t really jump off the film for me

he's an athletic monster (he's got great strength, length, burst, lateral quickness and powerful hands and plays with the motor running hot) who's already a dominant run defender and flashes as a pass rusher

dude's a day 1 starter purely based off his run defence and has the freak athleticism at his size and weight to be a major force around the edge - just has to be more consistent and have more of a pass rush plan because he flashes the ability to get tons of pressure

I haven’t dug deep into his tape, I watched a game and was totally unimpressed, what are some good games to study? Also, I’m not into spending a first on an edge who is all tools and totally undeveloped as a pass rusher lol. I’m looking for a guy who at least has a grasp, ojulari is a guy I’m starting to really warm up to for us, also gonna dive deeper on zaven Collins because his name has been picking up steam and I liked what little I’ve seen, looks like he could be a great Judon replacement because he strikes me as the ultimate positionless defender and Judon does a lot of that work

a lot of the edge guys in this class aren't the most developed pass rushers right now

and it's not like Paye's super raw as a pass rusher like some of the other athletic guys who have no technical ability at all - just that his pass rushing is clearly behind his ability as a run defender right now (purely on a technical basis)

iirc he had something like 6 pressures vs Minnesota - but you see him win all over his tape

it gets over-shadowed though because his run defending is cool lol

ojulari's great though which is why he's my number 1 EDGE this year

DJ has us taking Trevon Moehrig - not watched him/graded him yet but id be surprised from what i've heard that any of them would be BPA when we pick

i do like seeing Ronnie Perkins in the first round though
I can absolutely see him being considered one of the best players available. The guy has incredible range and ball skills, and really knows how to read offenses. He always seems to be one step ahead of the offense and in perfect position. He kinda reminds me of Charles Woodson back there.

I soured on moehrig quite a bit, I was super high on him but never first rounder high. Recent dive on film and I just began to notice poor angles in coverage and pursuit, he’s often late to a spot he just shouldn’t have been late to, spots in coverage he should’ve picked up on much earlier, I just began to see a lack of anticipation that I didn’t fully see at first because he does have legitimate range.

he’s quite a bit like haha Clinton dix, who I wasn’t high on(but wanted because I wanted any FS due to my insistence that Matt Elam was the goat SS lol).

Bucky Brooks has us taking Jaelan Phillips (EDGE). I know Bucky has some bad takes pretty often, but what do you all make of the player and fit? I don't watch college at all so interested to hear about prospects. The position makes sense at least.

https://www.nfl.com/news/bucky-broo...0-jets-start-new-era-at-qb-with-justin-fields

Tape's amazing, player's amazing - medicals would have to check out - dude was medically retired for concussions at one point in college - it's possible he goes udfa because of it...

but hey if the medicals check out then the tape says that's a great pick (and I know Daniel Jeremiah loves Jaelan Phillips too)

with all the grades ive done so far Phillips was pretty close to BPA when we pick in this scenario (only guy ahead of him in grades terms for me as it stands in that scenario would have been Rashod Bateman WR)

I don't have League knowledge and stuff but if Philipps get drafted in the first I'll fall off my couch.
