It's an interesting thought. Needs a lot of evaluation in his own life before he's really ready to play football, but I'd consider throwing a conditional 7th or something like that if they're planning to cut him anyways. He's got talent but clearly not there mentally.

not sure id love the trade given that i think there's some guaranteed money in his contract (that we'd acquire) which obviously would increase the risk
True, but the guaranteed money is also small. We wouldn't take on any of his bonus prorations, and almost $6M of his $11.5M contract is in bonus money.

He would cost $1.1M in 2021 $1.7M in 2022, and $2.2M in 2023.

That being said... I'm probably not trading for a player who, at least to me, doesn't want to play football.

im spending at best a 7th round conditional

yes the guaranteed money is small but for a player for whom there's a high chance of it not working out there's potentially 4m in dead money which makes me think hard about whether he's worth that

if he gets cut (which seems highly likely at this point), i'd see if we can nab him for the minimum or whatever

Absolutely loved the signing at first but now this is turning into a nightmare that I hope ends soon, regardless of the outcome

watching and listening to more of Dubb and Tee Martin - they've got very different coaching styles - Martin's more relaxed but really charismatic leader type - Dubb's super intense (not in a dramatic shouty way - you can just see it in everything he does) and detail oriented, but he takes on a serious mentorship responsibility with his players and is really personable with them

they're both very personable, hands-on teachers - they have that in common and it will be interesting to see what the hierarchy of their roles on the team are and how they mesh together

the more i see of Dubb the more excited i am about him - he's a route-running savant

not a ton of stuff out there about tee martin (only a few mic'd up segments) so hard to really nail him down as a coach

Agreed. I'm mostly just saying I'm not steering clear of a trade because of the money. I'm steering clear because I don't know if he's a good player or even wants to play. Pretty rare to have a player clash with Vrabel, who's like the ultimate "player" coach.

Packers just released OT Ricky Wagner. From a starting standpoint, he may not be where he was but would be good depth at tackle.

Absolutely, cheap 2-3 year deal. Nice depth

Nope. Not interested in the slightest. Too injury prone for my liking.

I mean if you get 7-8 games out of him on a cheap deal that seems worth it to me. Take some pressure off Hollywood and open up the middle with two speed guys on the outside

Ehhh. I personally prefer my top receivers play the whole season but that's just me. I'd rather roll with Duv and Proche plus any WR we draft at this point.

lol - ok i guess we get another new face in the building

i thought matt weiss was a pretty good coach from what i saw from the clips of him with Dobbins in the offseason and in the RB room - it's a shame to lose him but i guess that's what's going to happen with good coaches especially when they're coaching positions that it's hard to progress from

This move makes sense. QB coaches are more likely to get a OC promotion. RB coaches are often stuck and not every team employs a run game coordinator.

20 mil against the cap?? This could be highly catastrophic. This will be resolved before Mar 17th I would presume. The sooner the better and it makes no damn sense how the rules weren't followed.
