I dunno, the man is making it clear that he's willing to sit out if need be.
And I think they should make him actually do that.
What he says in March and what he does in September are two different things. Its free to say anything in March.
Its very, very, very, very, very expensive to sit at home in September.

thankfully this is over now lol - was already bored of the speculation about his landing spot

So after years of being on the Texans, he chooses another Franchise that isn't anywhere close to a Super Bowl. He definitely wanted the money more than a ring unless it had something to do with Hopkins. Either way it sucks he won't get a ring, was hoping he at least sign with Green Bay for a shot at a ring.

I mean... sort of.

Arizona needs help, but in the NFC, they're really not that far behind anybody else. Like Tampa and GB are far from juggernauts, Rams and Seattle aren't anything special, and New Orleans is close to fading into oblivion.

Are there better teams out there? Sure, but I never really bought the idea that GB or Pittsburgh were in on this to begin with. Neither of those teams really had the cap ability to go get somebody like Watt, unless they gave him like a 3-4 year deal with a ton of backloaded cap space.

Buffalo was probably the best "team" of the options, but I don't know that he wanted to play there or what they offered. I wouldn't put Arizona much lower in the pecking order than, say, Cleveland or Tennessee, who were among the other teams interested.

2 hours before this announcement: "JJ Watt narrows list of teams down to Packers, Browns & Bills."

*JJ Watt signs with Cardinals*

This really shows that insiders and analysts just really don't know what's going to happen. Cardinals were never named in the Watt sweepstakes. Everyone expected all the big playoff teams then out of nowhere he signs with Arizona.

It was certainly a surprise.

NFL network is saying Vance Joseph played a big role in landing Watt

That was based on a fake peloton account too

seems like they all got hoodwinked by some random user on pelaton... or something ridiculous like that...

You said nfc like its weak lol.. cards are much closer than afc playoff teams than theyre nfc. I dnt even think they would have beaten wft .All we have in nfc is literally Kc.. GB, NO, TB and rams all had a real shot at Sb. cards wa

I mean... the NFC is clearly descending. The NFC's two best teams have QBs who may be out of the league entirely in 2-3 years, they have pretty much no really good, young QBs, and some of the teams you listed, like New Orleans and Seattle, are checking all of the boxes you want to see for teams that figure to be winning considerably less games going forward. At no point in time did I (or really anybody else who watched football) think that Seattle or LA were SB caliber teams. They have many glaring roster weaknesses that were simply masked for about the first month of the year, and then became exposed. LA made a strong attempt to try to resolve that this offseason (which tells you all you need to know about what they thought about their 2020 team), and Seattle is going to spend its offseason, again, doing very little, other than alienating their franchise QB, who may or may not even want to be there anymore.

And I don't see another team in the NFC that's going to put up much a fight.

In the AFC, I've got the Chiefs, Bills and Ravens, all with strong, young QBs. I've got Jacksonville who's about to land the best QB coming out of the draft since Andrew Luck, the Chargers seemingly have a stud young QB in Herbert, the Dolphins doubled their win total last year and actually have close to a SB roster if they can get competent QB play, the Bengals have a very good young QB in Burrow, and I haven't even mentioned THREE playoff teams from last year, which includes Cleveland (a loaded roster), Tennessee and Indianapolis (who just upgraded at QB).

Hell, while its the Jets, they've got a crap ton of draft picks and can either add a franchise QB in the draft, or pretty much have enough ammo to get a Deshaun Watson if they ever decided to move him.

If I want a shot at being highly paid and making the playoffs, I'm sprinting to about a half dozen teams in the NFC as fast as I can. The AFC North is loaded with quality teams and the worst teams in the AFC South are going to have Watson and Lawrence.
