tbf tyre was much rawer last year and he came in and won the starting job which suggests the competition isn't too stiff...
yes but there was a good bit of stinking it up on his part and he ended up splitting reps, I think. I just have it drawn up in my mind that this guy is a stud...not raw the way Phillips was and that the line is actually better at keeping Lamar settled.

I kept watching the same tapes of Oweh and nothing has changed my mind yet.

You'd expext a pass rusher to win outside with bend or through his opponent with explosion (converted to power using his hands and leverage).
He does neither of them.
He has the speed and (rarely) the timing to hit the chop move (3min30 and 4.00 of the Michigan tape) but everything else is a huge question mark.
If we don't bring in Houston we have problems.

You are correct, however, you aren’t considering wink minimizing these factors and using the scheme to strip Oweh’s game down to what he does best, he does this so well with twitchy and large and powerful/physical rushers. If a 4-3 team drafted him to line up and be the primary edge rusher for a cover 2/3 scheme id be worried, but I think he can at the very least do a great job at creating opportunities for the defense and also using his freaky athleticism to capitalize on opportunities the defense creates for him.

he just won’t be frequently beating the OT in a 1v1 rush around the edge, but then again we don’t emphasize that anyway.

that's my point though - if tyre managed to win that job in a stilted offseason - then if cleveland is worth anything he should be winning that job unless the front office's opinion of ben powers has changed dramatically...

did you watch the indiana tape?
and i've seen reps (i wish i could still find the individual clips but i cant remember where i first found them) of him running through and over guys...

obviously he's about as raw as they come (in pass rush terms) but you arent getting a prospect with his athleticism at 31 if he has lots of polish already...

and i think we're bringing in houston too

Oweh was a reach for a position of need out of desperstion from not having a second-round pick (where he should have been drafted). I'm still excited and have high hopes for the kid, but The pass rush could be in trouble this year. Houston, Ingram, Kerrigan... We need one of them to fill the void for the time being

Oweh would not have lasted long into day 2. The Ravens had offers to move back and didn't because they didn't feel like he'd be there. They said they had a top 20 grade on him.

You simply don’t see this athleticism often.

Lesser athletes who frankly aren’t far ahead of oweh in their development get drafted in the top 15 every other year.

If oweh goes in R2 he’s not gonna see past 40. It wasn’t desperation when the ravens have reportedly been very high on oweh for a while and many teams were also high on him to open R2. And you can bet your ass were gonna bring in a veteran edge and a veteran RT.

Eric isn’t about to enter the season with tyus bowser and oweh as our starting edge unit

Wade might be my favorite pick. Guy is a beast In the slot and can kill qbs on slot cb blitzs and I love that. He will be an awesome position in our defense and can prevent Marlon from having to go back to the slot after Tavon gets hurt again. People are upset about his 2020 but we got him for a reason and they are called prospects-not 10 year fully coached vets- for a reason.

Technically The Ravens already have a veteran edge rusher in Pernell Mcphee. Now Mcphee isn't a guy that you want to use awhole lot in efforts to prevent him from getting hurt and to keep him fresh but he definitely is a veteran. I knew The Ravens had planned to draft a edge rusher in this year draft but I didn't think they would have the chance to double dip but that's exactly what happened. Since that is the case The Ravens seem to be pretty stacked at the edge rusher position with Mcphee, Bowser, Ferguson, Oweh, and Hayes then there's also others but I forgot their names. I guess The Ravens could still sign a veteran edge rusher to add to the mix but that all depends on how they feel about their young edge rushers especially if they have lost hope in Ferguson taking the next step in his third season.

I think he is a special teams guy/FB/H and TE 3 in training. I do think he's coming for Pat's job as soon as next year. How do you justify two Fullback/H types?
He's pretty good despite giving 50lbs to Pat. More athletic than Pat and more upside catching the football I think.
I think it's more that he'll be coming for Boyle's job. He's really athletic so it's probably best to let him compete for TE 2 (whole primarily blocks and is a check down option) after a year.
