Ravens Ring of Honor
Post Draft Orlando Brown Trade

Kansas City gets:
OT Orlando Brown
Nick Bolton second-round pick (No. 58)
2022 6th round pick.

Baltimore gets:
Oweh- first-round pick (No. 31)
Cleveland- third-round pick (No. 94)
(No. 136) traded to ARI for (No. 160) Shaun Wade
2022 fourth round pick (ARI)
2022 fifth-round pick

We need to see the production of the players involved in this trade, but the most important ones are Oweh and Cleveland and Brown for the Chiefs. We also need to see if they franchise him after the season, which is expected, or give him a 20+ m contract. All in all I think this trade is a win-win. Now if Wade can perform to his 2019 abilities or better than this will put the trade over the top in our favor, imo.
Add Villanueva to the list of Baltimore Gets since we got him too. It isn't exactly 1-for-1 trade but in all honesty it kind of is in terms of potential.

How much do we have for Houston, if any?

How the hell are we gonna pick the 53 this year. Gonna have to be a lot of cuts right? I mean tough cuts. Familiar names.

We have the space to sign him now, but the Ravens will need a contract restructure, or two, in order to finish out the offseason, including signing draft picks, rule of 51 additions, practice squad players, etc.

We have enough to make it happen if we want him here. The question for me is if we really do want him here.
I really want him here lol

Houston or another pass rusher is still doable but it’s going to take some juggling at this point. I’d imagine we might be a lot more patient in that pursuit and hope that Houston, Ingram, Kerrigan, etc. remain on the market and the price drops. No need to make a move now.

In fun news, *** was apparently spouting as recently as yesterday that AV would not be signing here because he wanted too much money. Guess who’s wrong again!

Jeff Z on the Villanueva cap hit.

Keep in mind though that, with the $10M remaining, you'll need $3M for draft picks, and probably another $3-4M to fill out a practice squad + additional two players when the rule of 51 ends at the start of the season.

So you really have ~$3-4M in cap space to spend today. Typically, teams prefer to roll-over about that much cap into the season, to account for injuries and roster changes.

So effectively, the Ravens have essentially no cap space. They still technically have $10M right now and can add another player or two, but by the time they get to the end of the offseason, they'll need to restructure a contract or two to create some space. Stanley is the obvious candidate would create the most space (up to a little over $5M potentially).

On top of that, I'm increasingly seeing it difficult to imagine we sign Lamar to an extension this offseason. Based on what RSR has, there's the potential to create ~$10-11M in cap space if we restructure like four players, which isn't ideal. Even so, with the size of Lamar's deal, I don't see a lot of options where you could keep his current year cap number down below like $10M.

So my guess is as much lip service as we're giving to him getting an extension this year, it feels very much like a prior to 2022 season line. Its not impossible to get it done, but it will require some very good cap manipulation to make it happen.
