I don’t think the Ravens cared about trading him to KC. Thinking about it from another angle maybe we thought that while Brown is really good we can maybe at least know his weaknesses enough to hopefully exploit them
Or maybe we don’t even see him as really good. This is a move where we could be setting up our biggest rival. He fell to the third round not because he tested out unathletic, but because to test that poorly you have to be LAZY and not condition yourself, his weight and conditioning hasn’t been consistent since then, and while we’re trying to build a super bowl team he is worried about himself and himself only. Notice the only player who had anything to say about his departure was mark andrews, because they’re literally best friends off the field and have been for a very long time, everybody else had crickets for him. I think the second Orlando took to Twitter, our whole team was ready to see what we can get for him, and when he was gone i think a lot of guys said good riddance.

we got a first, a third, and a fourth, to send an unathletic and lazy, run first OT to our biggest rival who airs it out 40 times a game and takes 10-15 yard drop backs and holds the ball consistently, to be their top dollar franchise LT.

honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think Eric is playing chess with the chiefs. Yeah they rebuilt the OL brilliantly, but if the most expensive man on that unit turns out to be one of their worst starters, then goddamn was it a good move.

I don’t even know why people keep whining about OBJ. There’s absolutely no way he would’ve stayed past this season for us. For us to have gotten literally anything for him is incredible. Some bring up bandaids with AV. Well to be honest, AV has a far greater chance of still contributing to us in 2022 than OBJ had, had he stayed this year. Think of the future sometimes, folks
Idk that I’ve been seeing complaints about it, I feel like mostly everyone understands that this was a necessary move. Brown didn’t wanna be here, and we don’t want guys who are putting themselves first and aren’t bringing the right energy. And most folks seem to understand that as long as we have a competent stop gap then we will be fine.

Thank you. Fully agreed

Yeah, I think I’m getting mixed up with the other board I lurk at

Wait, more certain of Tylan Wallace being a more immediate contributing starter than Rashod freaking Bateman?? LOL... nah man that’s just the bad spaghetti you had last night giving you indigestion
It may be a stretch to think Wallace will be a better rookie than Bateman, but I could at least see a scenario where Wallace LOOKS like the better player at times, Wallace will likely be given a lot of slot opportunity while Bateman will probably be in much less favorable positions, just due to the nature of him being the guy we see as the “#1” and being isolated on the boundary and asking him to basically use your abilities and make the play.

True... Lamar’s accuracy leaves something to be desired on outside throws so I can see that happening

as it's been said before.

You can say we swapped Villanueva for Zeus
swapped a 2nd for a 1st
received our 3rd round comp pick two years early
received an additional 4th round pick (2021)
and traded our 2022 6th for 2022 5th round pick.

Yes, I agree, it was good to get something for him other than a 3rd round comp pick, that wasn't guaranteed, in 2023.

Mostly because you would have gotten a 3rd or 4th round comp pick in 2023, most likely, if you let him walk. Plus, another year of OBJ on this team would have been extremely valuable, given where we are as "contenders". I think people just sort of "ignore" the fact that you would have had a great player, for cheap, on the roster for another year.

I understand this, still felt necessary and felt like a net gain on paper at least

Short-term it'll feel like a loss, because ironically, Villaneuva is like 2x more expensive than Brown is this year. Typically its easy to justify the "downgrade" when you factor in the differences in prices from a good/great player to an average one. But for 2021, Brown is actually cheaper, which will make it (likely) a little tougher to swallow.

It will likely all hinge on how well guys like Oweh end up long term.

cheaper but also gave us the ability to acquire more talent (at other positions also for cheap) - the 3 players we got for the chiefs picks: oweh, Cleveland, Wade

I'm just praying for Bateman and Oweh to be starters of high quality this year. If that happens, the OBJ trade will be good and pleasant afterthought. I am somehow more certain of Cleveland and Wallace becoming immediate starter contributors. I can't put my finger on it, but just feel so.

oweh might take a while but bateman’s the most pro-ready WR we’ve ever drafted... if he’s not ready to go before Wallace then either Wallace is a burgeoning superstar or something’s gone wrong somewhere

If you include villanueva in then you do have to add the increased salary cap cost into the equation too

Hei ho! Pippiti pepete someone has a said a spaghetti?:D
Glad for the AV signing.
I guess someone between the veteran pass rushers might join us on a friendly deal with the hope to make it far in the playoffs.
A short term deal, like 2 years, with the 2nd year numbers mostly performance related,, maybe?!
At least, that's what I hope
