Has anybody heard anything on the Houston situation? As badly as I felt we needed him before the draft, I feel like we can wait to see what we have in training camp before making a veteran pass rusher move. What do you guys think?

Same. Would be very nice to have a mentor veteran type player at the position other than McPhee though

Apparently they’d like to have him but money is still an issue. Good thing is that they can afford to be patient. Still a few veteran options on the market. Hold out and see if the price goes down.

agree and although Houston is my top choice, I also like Ingram and Kerrigan.

We see our oline improvements year after year though so he deserves the credit.. what have we really seen from watkins that suggest he did anything for him? Cause he really wasnt all that with bills like people
Make him out to be..Are we gonna see any improvement from boykin or duvermay? Cause thats the only
Way id be convinced.

with watkins, he helped completely transform his play-style... that's a pretty big change

I dnt really remember much from watkins cause i was big on odell but even though there may have been change in his style, is it really noticeable? will i see enough change to the point where i can say “ ok martin is responsible for that”

He wasn’t all that with the Bills because he kept getting hurt, and those type of injuries he was getting are the type that slowly drains your explosiveness and speed away. For all the injuries Watkins has had, if it weren’t for his routes and releases, he wouldn’t even be playing anymore. Kudos to Williams for helping Watkins change his game up to save his career at least a little. And you’re forgetting about how well Davante Adams has done as a result from the coaching as well
Oh im not saying that williams and martin not gonna help but its much easier to give them credit for players like adams and watkins when them goes already have something great there potentially but what about the other guys who look like shit

it's very noticeable - he's a super physical route-runner at this point in his career transitioning from an explosive vertical threat into a more possession type who's physical through the route

it's super noticeable - was one of the first things i picked up on when i went into the all-22 the last 2 years or so

and you might not see "change" from all the receivers on the roster, that doesn't mean the new coaches aren't making them better...

I just can’t see how Boykin earns a spot. I think he’s gone in training camp. I’m beyond excited for Bateman and Wallace for Lamar. Wallace reminds me of Steve Smith so much. I hope Duv can become a kind of Deebo player for us as well.

I’ll be shocked if we cut Boykin. I wonder what we’re going to do with him

How come? Sammy offers the same run blocking ability and Bateman wasn’t a slouch in college

Hard to justify being shocked. I could see him beating out Proche for a roster spot though. If Proche has nothing to offer that's better in terms of ST play, you could easily see them moving on from somebody with a 6th round pedigree after a year. Boykin was drafted higher, which doesn't necessarily mean anything two years in, but to the FO, it might.

Either way, without injuries, one is getting cut, and the other is likely to spend the season as a gameday inactive.

Wallace is a better and stronger version of Proche in my book, as far as role on the team goes. Proche could very easily be cut

The thing with Proche vs. Boykin is that you know what you have in Boykin and it's not much. Whereas Proche came into the NFL in a shortened offseason so you didn't get as much opportunity with him.

And the thing with Proche is he’s not special in any single area. At all. He lost his job to Duvernay as the PR because Proche is way too slow and not explosive. At least Boykin can block and is good for a TD every now and then

I get it. It’s going to be Hollywood, Watkins and Bateman first 3 in.

I just think we can get some type of trade compensation for him rather than flat out cut the guy. A 2019 3rd rounder who’s 6’4 and ran a 4.42. The shock would be if nobody bites and we flat out cut him. Talk about a whiff from EDC and the scouts lol.
