Agreed on Boykin. Can't understand why we aren't looking to further upgrade Ferguson. Is this a post June 1st kinda thing?
I mean he's like, what, your 4th or 5th OLB on the depth chart? Like even if we bring in somebody like Houston as an edge rusher, he's a < 50% snap count guy. He's primarily a 3rd down, subpackage rusher most likely. One would figure based on "status" alone that Bowser and Oweh are going to eat up a lot of snaps there.

I grew up watching Austin Powers and this is the gif I needed tonight lol

Not convinced Bozeman will be much of an upgrade.

Again, can he snap a ball without getting our Qb killed?? If so, I don’t give a damn about the rest, he’s a huge upgrade on what we had before

we should care very much about the rest.
Maybe I'm not remembering right, but I thought Skura was pretty solid at snapping the ball up until this year. But it was his blocking that wasn't so good.

I mean true, but in my eyes if he can snap the ball well and be passable at the rest then that is a solid improvement over last season and I'll take it.

Based on what we've seen so far at left guard he should be at least passable (and probably more) at the rest, so it really comes down to whether he can snap the ball cleanly. Fingers crossed!

Gotta snap the ball to have a play lmao. Doesn’t matter if you have all all/pros if you can’t get the play off
The first part goes without saying. Its not something anyone would argue.
It seems we are excited about the move far in advance of knowing whether or not he is a significant upgrade outside of snapping the ball. His college tape (albeit this is tape form three years ago and he is pretty likely a stronger and more athletic player now), shows clearly why he went in round six. He is often over powered, far too often on the ground, he tends to lean, whenever hands reach him first, he is violently ripped often to the ground.
He over steps and gets flat footed and is not athletic on the second level. His pre season tape at center with the ravens backs this up. This is not to say that he won't/hasnt improved. He may have. I'm just not as excited as a lot of fans seem to be.

So Skura, except he can snap. Upgrade.

I saw some of Lamar's throws to the outside on tape during practice this month and they seem to have more velocity than the past several years.

Anyone know if he has been working on his arm strength ?

This is a very good sign.

He’s substantially bigger, and in the few throws I’ve seen it seems like he suddenly has a cleaner spiral, not perfect but a lot less wobbly.

stronger core could help have less jerky and less all-arm mechanics?

I would point you more towards his NFL tape vs his college tape. Different positions obviously, but there's not a dramatic difference between Guard and Center play in the NFL, especially as a run blocker.

I have questions about pass protection on the interior, but Zeitler should be an upgrade and I thought Bozeman held up well in pass protection at LG, which typically faces both stunts and often better interior pressure candidates.

I noticed this as well. Ball is getting there fast

When i saw Lamar in training camp before his MVP season I told my wife that he has improved 10 fold.

Im seeing further improvement on the limited amount of tape so far.

I mean the kid is still only what 24 ? He is going to get stronger.

i think it's also worth saying that we'll adjust the types of plays we run to fit the guys we have - not saying LG won't still have to pull a significant amount moving forwards but we may see an uptick in the amount of times we ask the C to pull - the running scheme can work around different guys's strengths

i do think being in a phonebooth as a pass protector will probably help Bozeman somewhat but he'll also have to show that he can anchor vs nose tackles which he hasn't had to do a ton

Yes. But an upgrade nonetheless

He had some of the same issues I think in pass protection. He tends to lean and lose balance. Additionally, he'll need a better first step from snap than he showed in college., both in meeting shades and power across from him and picking up 3T to his left on counter.

I'm sure he'll be OK and perhaps steady the position for a year. We'll have to wait and see.,but he'll likely be adequate and I'd hope for better.

They'll both be pulling a good bit. Pulls are all based on fronts and The ravens are happy that Bozeman is good at it. Now, we could see more outside pin pull stuff with Bozeman pulling..thats a thought.

No one wants to see Cleveland coming at them to kick out or lead through. Thats going to be fun

i think we might see a bit more inside zone with cleveland in at LG (if he wins that job) but i wouldnt expect the scheme to change a ton - but i could definitely see us continuing to get Bozeman into L2 be that off combos or if we pull him from C
