I don’t think we’ll pick up Hollywood’s 5th year option when the time comes

Wonder how Lamar will feel about that… hopefully Bateman becomes trusted by him and another close friend of his

Agreed! However here is a question out of curiosity for the board: IF you could sign only one of Andrews or Hollywood, which one would it be? IF Bateman or the rest of the corps are mediocre at best (hopefully Bateman and crew make this a very easy question eventually)

That's your opinion, but I feel there is a 150% chance we pick up Hollywoods 5th year option. You don't let someone go who has scored 15 TDs and come out big time in the playoffs in his first two years, while also playing on one foot in year one. I also think he will have between 1000 and 1200 yards this season.

Love the discussion so far! Myself, I think we pick Hollywood’s option up. With him having active help beyond Andrews now, I think he’ll do great. Maybe not the prototypical #1 stats we’re all used to now, but definitely high end #2/low end #1 stuff

By the way, I give a lot of likes out because it boosts the rep of the posters on here. If you ever notice you have a positive/negative system in which the higher rated posters show up better in the members list. The other reacts don’t do anything. Don’t think anyone really cares but I like rewarding excellent posts

I just think we will hold onto the best receiver we've had in years for as long as we're able. It's been discussed elsewhere that the Ravens offence won't produce eyepopping stats for any receiver, but Hollywood has shown up as a really good player and a fit for the scheme and for Lamar. It would be madness not to take the 5th year option imo, given the usual state of our receiving corps.

I have my doubts about whether he'll get a second contract - not because we won't offer but because he might want those stats on more pass-heavy team. That will probably depend a lot on how much money we give him (we might have to overpay compared to the league value) and his relationship with Lamar. But taking him for the extra year at a pretty reasonable price just seems obvious to me.

Andrews. Hollywood, unless he fails miserably over the next couple years, we be a cheaper option than any FA we would replace him with - unless we re-sign Lee Evans or TJ Houshmanzada. ^_^

If it were up to Ozzie, Ryan Grant sure wouldn’t be cheaper

I agreed with this but want to change my thought. I don't think his 5th year is picked up and that's only because of the cost. Predict a new deal will be struck before using the option. Letting Andrews or Brown go would be STUPID.

Ehh, Is that a new deal before they pickup the option, or a new deal before he plays on the option?

Option for Hollywood will be next offseason. That's when you pick it up. Me personally... I don't see them signing Hollywood to an extension in the next 12 months. Lamar and Andrews are higher in the pecking order, and then you have somebody like Bozeman also. I think Hollywood is 4th or 5th in the pecking order of offensive players needing contract extensions. Not impossible it happens, but I just don't see it.

Now, him signing an extension before he actually plays on the option, however, is a real possibility. Him signing an extension in the offseason prior to the 2023 season, I think, is a very real possibility. 2023 would be his 5th year option year. I would say that's realistic.

At that point, there's literally only like one defensive player making any real money, and that's Marlon. Everybody else would be cheap or gone.

The next 2-3 years will, in my opinion, be about the Ravens doing a lot of "keeping the band together" on offense. I think they'll lock up Lamar, Bozeman, Hollywood, and Andrews in the next 2-3 years to market-value contracts. And I think they'll spend those same years largely drafting defense, defense, and more defense. It wouldn't surprise me if in the next 2-3 years we draft 10-15 defensive players.

Yeah. Think the team would try to get an extension done before the option.

Campbell and Williams I think are only signed for 1 more season and a lot of money on that side should be coming off the books. Like you, see the priority being keeping the offense together then building the defense the way we did the offense, through the draft with young players.

In that case, I don't see it. They're like 9 months away from needing to pickup the option. And I think there's at least three players who will get extensions before him. Honestly, even for Hollywood to consider taking the deal, it would have to be a very high market value deal. Maybe even upwards of $20M a year. Otherwise, he has virtually no incentive to sign.

What makes you think that? I can’t envision this being anything close to a thought that the FO has. He is a core member of the team, without question.

Well this is possible, but I'm not sure a new deal would be less expensive for us in year five due to the signing bonus being spread out and the structure of the contract. Long term, I do think it is beneficial for us to sign him early.
